Publisher's summary

As the dragon awoke...the world came together. Would it be enough to stop China?

WWIII wasn’t what any of the analysts expected. Across the globe, battles raged. Taiwan fell. Fighting continued in the Caribbean and South America. The Russian Far East had invaders, and nobody seemed able to stop this new Red Army. With the world in chaos, it was hard to unravel the pieces.

Would one US pilot give them hope?

On the first day of the war, his F-22 Raptor was shot down over Cuba. Lieutenant Colonel Ian "Racer" Ryan survived, escaped, and now had the Air Force’s 6th generation fighter under him. Would it be enough to outsmart the Chinese AI defenses?

Was this the turning point...or the end?

I finished it, but it took a super effort to do so. It just wasn't very interesting. For example, we got caught up in the details of street fights in South America using weapons that are unfamiliar. Too many characters and too many battle scenes that resulted in not much. This 9.7 hour book could have easily become 1.5 hours. I'm wondering if I should return it to audible.com for a refund because subsequent volumes are in question for me.

written in a hurry

author seems to be writing these quickly and repeats phrases frequently. Story is good but gets a little lost from time to time.

Military Jargon

The actor really should have learned how to pronounce all of the Military jargon so the story would have flowed better. After hearing him mispronounce “Hue” and “LAV” I had to figure out what he was saying to get back into the story.

Very little story.

Mostly like reading a series of battle reports. war is not just about battles but the people back home and the media, both the responsible and mostly the irresponsible. there is a lack of human element in this, other than a sense of the horror of war on the front.

Does James have a crystal ball?

James is laying out a near-future scenario that is very scary, yet plausible. I only hope this series serves to provide an apocalyptic view of what-must-not-happen. Hopefully, his AI, Jade Dragon, provides a serious check on the advancement of such a program and that sane men can hold sway over such insanity.

The war seems more and more implausible

Why in the hell would the US allow China to continue sailing commercial ships around the world? Especially after they used cargo ships to attack the US? Why are the Western alliance allowing China to continue shipping oil out of the Middle East? So shortsighted and if the happened in real life the US deserves to lose!
