Publisher's Summary

In the latest in Ann B. Ross' New York Times best-selling series, Miss Julia finds herself an executrix on a desperate hunt for a valuable collectible amid a jumble of the estate's antiques, and if she finds a prize she can honor Miss Mattie's last wishes.

When Miss Julia hears that Miss Mattie Freeman has taken a fall and is in the hospital, she wishes she'd spent more time getting to know the woman - and not just because she's last to hear about the accident! So when the tumble proves fatal, the last thing Miss Julia expects is a phone call from Ernest Sitton, Attorney at Law. Suddenly, Miss Julia finds herself the executrix of Miss Mattie's estate, and from what Ernest has to say, Miss Mattie's coffers weren't exactly full.

Determined to find something of value for Miss Mattie's beneficiaries, Miss Julia is faced with a room full of clutter that's now hers to disperse. With the lovelorn caretaker Etta Mae Wiggins working overtime, her good friend Mildred Allen on bed rest, and Helen Stroud cataloging Miss Mattie's furniture, Miss Julia soon realizes she's got a million things to do to honor her friend's last wishes. Thank goodness for Miss Mattie's handsome young neighbor, Nate Wheeler, who's ever ready to help out, and of course for Sam, who's always willing to lend an ear. But when a young man claiming to be Miss Mattie's great-nephew turns up, demanding to live in her apartment while he writes a family history, Miss Julia will find herself closer to Mattie Freeman and her mysterious family than ever before.

In this 17th installment in the Miss Julia series, Ann B. Ross delivers another hilarious and bighearted novel celebrating the South's favorite steel magnolia and the unforgettable residents of Abottsville.

Another Fun Miss Julia Adventure

Never get tired of Miss Julia and her cohorts! Lillian is always a delight. I will wait impatiently for the next Miss Julia adventure ...too bad it takes a year to write one and only 2 days to listen ! Cynthia Darlow is a perfect narrator.

Delightful

Donna Cundiff
This adventure of Miss Julia is as almost as interesting as her first. I've read everyone in this series. They never disappoint me.

Oh No!!! Is Miss Julia Slowing Down?!!!

What would have made Miss Julia Inherits a Mess better?

I did not realize how much Hazel Marie, Little Lloyd and Mr. Pickens added to Miss Julia's character. Without them, the book was a little flat and disappointing. Hopefully, they will make an appearance in later books. but i will wait until the books hit come out at my local library or make sure it on my list for Santa.

What was most disappointing about Ann B. Ross’s story?

I missed Hazel Marie and her brood of a family, especially Little Lloyd.

What aspect of Cynthia Darlow’s performance would you have changed?

Nothing at all. She is really good.

What character would you cut from Miss Julia Inherits a Mess?

That dang preacher and his crybaby wife! Miss Julia leave that church or start a campaign for another. That pastor couldn't lead a dog to a steak! He is just a beggar and a bully.

Cynthia Darlow IS Miss Julia.

Though not one of the best Miss Julia books, Cynthia Darlow captures the characters' voices brilliantly. With each new book, I look forward to her performance more than the story. i thought this story dragged juat a tad. Still, I always love me a Miss Julia book.

Miss Julia never disappoints.

Although this wasn't as good as her other books I found this book to be very enjoyable. It was exciting and hilarious.

Miss Julia does it again!

Miss Julia & Etta Mae are off on another adventure in Abbotsville - this time to protect the meager belongings of their dear friend Matty Freeman. They get tangled up with a thief & I'll not spoil it as to who comes out on top of that!!!

Welcome Back to a Good Ms. Julia tale.

After three disappointing stories in this normally delightfully fun and exciting Ms. Julia series, we once again see the spunk and dogged determination of the heroine, as well as that of one of her more complimentary side characters.
Much better and more absorbing storyline. would love to see more of the almost non stop excitement and crazy interconnected plot lines of the original editions. 15,16,and 17 were a bit bland and with less of the climactic excitement I had come to so enjoy in Ms. Ross's Ms. Julia adventures.

Loved It

Finished this book during a time of grief for my family. It was a very pleasant diversion. The character development and storyline were some of the best in the series for me.
