An emotional ride

A little too depressing and infuriating for my taste, but a good book nonetheless. One that certainly inspired emotions.

I was so incredibly angry with Adeline about the letter. It was the most selfish of betrayals, wrapped up in a thin guise of care. She had no right. As soon as it happened, I became quite spiteful and desperately wanted her to end up alone. Every subsequent interaction with Evan only further infuriating me. I was so relieved when it came crashing down her, when she finally received her just recompense. Of course, the story became rather depressing after that so…

Yeah, it was a wild ride of emotions… but I think that makes it a well crafted story, right? Even if it’s hard to say I “enjoyed” it, I must give it its due.

As for the audiobook, I didn’t love the narrator. I felt like her intonations were off, just enough that it messed with the story.

Content:
There is no foul language, sex, or violence. The romance is limited to lightly descriptive kisses. There is no mention of faith or God.

1st person single POV

Fortunately the last few chapters redeemed the most irritating character.

I cannot recall ever being so irritated by a main character in any book and wondered a few times why I'd not yet given up entirely BUT certainly it was very realistic in how we too often fail at relationships. Yet, in the end it turned out to be a worthwhile book.
The narrator was better than some have said and I believe the character development itself was much of the problem.

Great story idea- narration needs work

I loved the story idea but couldn’t adjust to the narrators style. Same cadence and tone . Not much difference between character voices.

Such a sweet story!!!

This was a clean, sweet and romantic story that I didn’t want to put down. I loved every minute of it. I hope this will be a series. The writing was terrific as was the narration. A true pleasure.

Couldnt put this one down!

Loved this clean regency romance from start to finish. The story has such good tension that I found myself needing to listen to it all the time. All the tension and frustration builds to one of the best kiss scenes I have read in a clean romance! I would recommend this book and adiobook to anyone who likes a suspenseful clean romance with several twists and turns.
The narration was wonderful.
