AWESOME

This is my favorite audible book ever!!!! I have listened to it more than 10 times (No, I’m not exaggerating!). To me, this story never ever gets old, and each time it feels like listening to it for the first time! Amazing story, and Jack Black is a great narrator for this book! He’s the best. Great music and effects too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recommend this to anyone who likes Minecraft. Also, when I started this book for the first time I thought it would be a boring story like any other Minecraft audiobook, but it is AMAZINGGGGGGGG!'!!!!'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A solid novel, faithful to its source (Spoilers)

Max Brooks is able to write a convincing story of a human thrust into a new world, the basic mechanics and rules of Minecraft are respected and drive the story forward. I was especially intrigued by the explanation of the inventory and hotbar system, and the way the protagonist is able to figure recipes out is very satisfying.

I had very few issues with the book but I found the books that the prot found being, essentially, wiki pages to be a bit odd, I understand that certain creative freedoms are allowed when writing a book about an abstract world like Minecraft, so I'm able to look past that. At one point the prot finds a music disc and listens to it, but describes it as "repetitive", I cannot forgive the shade thrown at C418.

The performance by Jack Black was one of the main selling points for this book for me, on top of it being written by the author of World War Z. Undoubtedly, Black's performance was amazing, I was able to put myself in the shoes (or boots) of the prot and visualize everything.

Overall this is an extremely well written novel that manages to accurately portray what a real play session(s) of Minecraft looks like, and teaches lessons about how to succeed in game and in reality.
