Not quite as good as the first two of the series

I took one star off performance because there was something about the female narrator that just didn't feel right to me.
I took one star off the story because around chapter 21 the female lead irritated me for a few chapters. I felt like she was being hypocritical expecting unconditional trust when she wasn't giving the same. I also felt she was being irrationally impulsive. I would have taken off another star, but she realized her mistake quickly and I decided that her emotional trauma and life circumstances that started when she was a teen could impact social and emotional maturity.
I will listen to the next book, as I started wanting Charlie's story shortly after he was introduced in this book.

LOVED THIS STORY!

Such a great story! I loved the narrators with this book.
I love the characters and the way these stories are interconnected with the characters from the series.

A bit of a struggle for me, but great narration!

I was so excited for Alec's story! He was such a great character in book 2, a friendly and supportive friend to Ellie in the previous story. The Alec we get in Mine to Guard is darker, angrier and more aggressive. Rae is antisocial, and has been conditioned to be so, since bad things seem to happen to those who get close to her.

I struggled with a lot of aspects of this book. I appreciated the inclusion of body dysmorphia in the characters, but I wish Rae had been a true plus size heroine. It felt like she was initially described as plus size, but then later was described more fit and lean but with a large stature and curves, which would not necessarily be plus size. The suspense part of this book was missing for me, and the short timeline of the action made it difficult for me to buy into the story or the romance. Additionally we got some very revealing information about Alec's preferences, but I don't feel they were adequately explored.

The narration by Teddy Hamilton and Virginia Rose was fantastic. I very much enjoyed listening to their performances when reading this book.

Overall this book fell flat for me. I hope the suspense in the next one is a little more intense and engaging.

Second Chance 5 Alarm Fire!

This book is my favorite of the Protection series so far! I am an absolute sucker for a second chance romance and the suspense REALLY gets my blood pumping! Add into the mix the feisty heroine, the possessive hero and you have the makings for an explosive read.. Rae and Alec sizzle on the page and in my ears, Virginia and Teddy were excellent picks for this couple!

BUCKLE UP FOR THIS ONE!

Another page turner! Buckle up for this one, and hold on for the ride! Damn good story! I love the suspense and drama leading up to the sexy stuff. I especially enjoy how she introduces a hot new character in each book.

Another heartstopper!

Another wonderful listen in this series. Its the third book in the Protection series. Each of these characters have a problematic past. One worries they will catch up and the other feels they will never go away. I enjoyed Rae and her tale was woven exceptionally well. Alec has that Texas ranger special power that just blows me away. He seems top of the food chain in law enforcement. He was interesting to watch and see what he would do. I have to give a shout out to Charlie Becker! I loved how he messed with Alec all the time. Their banter was fun and the nickname he called Alex?? I loved it!

The narration was excellent! Teddy Hamilton and Virginia Rose did such a good job. I do hope Charlie gets a book sometime.

Keeps you on your toes

Absolutely loved all 3 books in this series. It is a great mixture of an active case and romance intertwined. All 3 books would make great Movies!

Boring

The story could have had so much more potential! It felt very rushed. At some points it was predictable.

Fun and exciting

I really enjoyed this book, the third in a series but you don't have to read/listen to the first two to understand this one.

In this book, Rae is a suspect in a kidnapping and is suspected of being a serial killer. She needs help to make sure that she wouldn't be unjustly charged so she calls her high school sweetheart, Alec, who broke her heart when he left her when they were younger.

From the beginning, this story started with a bang. Rae has a stalker who is killing anyone that she comes in contact with so it's really a race against time to find the killer before he kills everyone else she comes in contact with, including Alec. There's a bit of push and pull because Alec has some personal issues that led to him breaking Rae's heart and because of Rae's secrets and sometimes, irrational behavior. Additionally, I thought that Rae's constant concern with being plus size was a little outside the scope of the story and made her feel a little weaker as a character to me. Overall, though, I really enjoyed this story and I was at the edge of my seat towards the end! This was such a great mix of suspense and romance!

Teddy Hamilton and Virginia Rose were the narrators of the audiobook and as expected, they were excellent. I am a huge fan of their performances generally so I had high expectations of this narration and they followed through. Great control of their voices, excellent pacing and overall, their narration helped me immerse myself in the story.

Captivating Romantic Suspense! Awesome 🎧📚🎧

Kennedy L. Mitchell delivers another brilliantly gripping romantic suspense, the third in her “Protection” series. I am loving this series, it’s originality and how realistic it is. Each book stands on its own and I highly recommend them all, they are well written with interesting characters and storylines that are captivating from start to end. After meeting Texas Ranger Alec Bronson in “Mine to Save” I wanter to know more about him and I was happy to hear he would be getting his own book. Rae Chapin was basically a prisoner of her own life, no one understood her plight, she kept to herself because everyone she friended faced a tragic ending. A stranger in town made the fatal mistake of talking to her and she becomes the prime suspect in his murder because she was the last one to see him alive. The local law officers treat her like crap, think she has something to do with several deaths over the years but had not evidence to prove it. Afraid of what they may do she uses her one phone call to call the man who left her with a broken heart, Alec Bronson. He was her only hope to catch the real killer, the one targeting everyone she cares for. Alec did not leave Rae because he did not love her, he left her because he did. When she calls he drops everything to help her, he soon finds out a lot more has been going on the the local PD picked up on. Unexplained missing persons and a serial killer on the loose, are they all linked together, is it the same killer targeting Rae’s loved ones, Alec will get to the bottom of it all. He asked a friend, Charlie, an agent to come help him investigate, he is an expert at getting information using the latest technology. I adored Rae, she had an inner strength like no other, all she had been thru, the choices she made in her life include her self imposed isolation for the good of others shows how much of a caring heart she had. I had an inkling of what she was hiding and I was so glad I was right. Alec could be a real alph-a-hole at times, broken in many ways, but his kindness and good heartedness outshined his broken parts, he just needed to see that. Rae did and so did Sherry. I loved how everything played out in this book, like the first two in the series, the story is cleverly and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some hot romance. Kennedy L. Mitchell thank you for another awesome story and a thrilling and emotional rollercoaster ride. I hope there is more to come in this series, hoping to hear more about Charlie.

They did an awesome job portraying the characters, performing each role like they owned it. Teddy Hamilton’s Alec Bronson was spot on, he captured his alphatude with perfection, Virginia Rose grasped Rae’s persona completely and mastered her role. Both were awesome performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. These mega talented narrators are entertaining storytellers and versatile voice artist. Thank you for another awesome listen!
