Story
Returning to Madison hurts. I thought I'd left my past behind, but the past goes on living. I carry it inside of me, it's a piece of me. People have marked me in indelible ways, and I drag the shreds of my soul behind me, trying to put my pieces back together. I'm not the Amber I used to be. I fly under the radar, try to be invisible. It doesn't always work. Drawing attention scares me. It always spells trouble. Returning to my hometown is a last-ditch effort to lay my demons to rest and start anew, for good this time.

Almost three years ago, a car crash took Audrey's dad and scarred her for life. Now 18, she returns to her hometown for the first time after the accident. She's here to start again. Go to college and have fun. Make new friends. Get over the past. But the past won't let go. Asher is here - her first kiss, her first heartbreak. More handsome and distant than ever, he's still the boy who used to be her best friend. That was before he changed into someone she hardly knows anymore - the boy who started getting into fights and gave her the cold shoulder for years.

Story
In the Virginia countryside outside of Washington, DC, Addy Wentworth was on a mission to make a new life for herself. When the opportunity arose, she settled in horse and wine country. Experiencing more than her fair share of tragedy and loss, she had plans for her future, one where failure wasn’t an option. And not just because people and cows were counting on her. She’d poured everything she had into her struggling vineyard, because once she’s in, she’s all in.

I don’t want Jason Vega. Not at all. It’s the worst idea ever. Ah, hell... Jason is handsome. Smart. Dangerous. Hot. He’s goddamn gorgeous - but he’s also sleeping on the street, hanging out with the local biker gang, and selling his body for a living. Our lives, our paths, couldn’t be further apart. Matthew Hansen is the kind of handsome that has grown women whispering behind their hands and giggling like schoolgirls. Dark, tall and mysterious, he's a newcomer to our little town. He's a gritty, grease-covered mechanic, and a single daddy. Sweet, right? Plus, he's looking for a nanny - and I am desperately looking for a job. Sounds like the perfect deal. Only he's a jerk. An uncivilized, hulking brute. Zero manners. Zero interest in making me feel welcome in his home. Downright rude. But oh, so sexy. And I need the job. I can do this.

I didn’t expect to be tricked into a curse, going into debt to a monster, and being forced to take a self-paced “let’s learn magic” course so I can fix a 2,000-year-old problem. And that monster? Not your ordinary, everyday beast. He has hooves, and horns, and fur on his legs. But you know where he doesn’t have fur? Yeah. There. Which is fine. Except he doesn’t wear pants.

Publisher's Summary
Meet the Damage Control boys - set in the world of the best-selling series Inked Brotherhood.
There's me: Micah Owens. Tattoo artist at Damage Control. No parents or siblings. A past that still gives me nightmares.
And then there's her: Evangeline, the girl who saved my life and haunts my more pleasant dreams. Only she doesn't know who I really am, and telling her might well send her fleeing for the hills. She deserves better than a loser like me. She's pretty. She's clever. She's goddamn sexy and has a heart of gold.
Which is why I can't tell her. A smile from her and I'll do all I can to make her mine - including pretending to be someone I'm not, someone worth having.
Isn't love weird?
Note: This is a stand-alone novel. No cliff-hanger.

🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 Sooooooo goooood.
I think Tad's narration has a lot to do with making listening to this so enjoyable. He is becoming a fast fave for his performances. Also, this story is hot, sweet, touching, and gets me in the feels. 🥰 It also touches on the lasting psychological effects of being in the foster system and homelessness; the unconscious drive to feel loved and accepted for some.

It was ok...
The story line was ok, a little generic but ok. I struggled to finish the book several times but wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt. The abundance of sex scenes was a little much. I guess at my point in life I'm looking for something with a little more substance.

Great story, love Erin Mallon
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I have listened to a ton of audiobooks and do not usually write a review. I only wanted to say that I can relate to the damage and difficulty these people have in their lives and it is nice to be able to read a romance and true love story that started off with some really shitty lives and tough breaks. It was a breath of fresh air and great to see a hea with a crappy start. I love Jo Raven’s writing and Erin Mallon’s male voice is amazing.

It was torture
This story had a good plot. But good god, I wanted to reach down their throats and rip the words out. The constant self doubting inner monologue was torture. “I love you” “does he want me” “she won’t show up” “he’s gonna breakup with me”
It was so frustrating I’m surprised I made it to the end. Then the extra novella at the end was just more of the same.
If it wasn’t for Tad this would have been a 1 star for sure.

Fantastic
I was searching Erin Mallon because she is my all time favorite narrator and stumbled across the Damage control series. I didnt know what to expect but it was a fablous read/listen and I really enjoyed the story line! Im excited to read the rest of the series (even though Erin is not narrating) im sure it will be just as good as Micah.

Great story!
This audiobook had great characters, a well thought out and engaging plot and lots of emotion. I liked the character of Micah and the narrator for him was perfect. The character of Ev was also well done. She was a rather insecure character at first, but came into her own through interaction with Micah. I'm looking forward to the next book in series coming out on audiobook as well!

An Okay Story
I was not totally invested in this story, I, however, kept listening because of the connection with the Candy Boys series, a series, I enjoyed. The narrators were okay, not as I have grown to expect. Tad Branson needs to improve his female version to start with and I really like him as him

good story but predictable
Micah was an interesting character. his background story was dark but understandable given his parent situation. Ev was different. she was strong to help others but weak towards her family. I'm not sure if I liked that or not. the storyline was believable to an extent. u don't make the decision to move out from ur parents without already having another place to live lined up. that's unrealistic.

DNF. Good Narration though
I couldn't get into the storyline at all. The characters weren't relatable in any way and it seemed like the MCs had the worst group of friends/family with no respect for boundaries under the guise of being worried and wanting to help.
Both narrators did a really good job.

hmm way too much miscommunication
this is a first listen to this author and I confess I chose it for Erin and Tad and without them, I think the book would have failed for me.
I was hesitant because i thought it may be more YA than mature age but I gave it a go. it was too young for me. the story was really drawn out with a tonne of 2nd guessing, interruptions and afraid to tell the truth moments. which frustrated me no end. there was a lot of uncertainty and mistrust at foot with both H and H ...more so Micah. his background makes that understandable and plausible.
I thhougt Ev was going to be woosy but while she was timid and afraid she had an underlying courage that moved this book along.
all in all the age of these characters gave the writer freedom to create this style. there was a good but of steam in here so that pops the book up a level but I have read similar storylines that have older characters with more history behind them which gives a depth to the plotline that I guess is missing here
I love series novels and would like to continue but I'm worried about the same drawn out type of writing occurring again.
I liked the story and it brings the other players in that indeed have their own tale to tell but I'm stalling with lack of depth due to the age of the characters.
Also the editing got a bit confusing. Chapter 14 sounded like the intro of the book then went to erin's voice explaining 2 months had gone by and Micah still had not opened up.
Then chapter 17 starts with a prologue to ambers story???? Hmmmm
