It takes a village, or in the case of this jaded silver fox, he needs a wife to save one. “I need you to marry me.”

Jane Fox: My boss cannot be serious. The ridiculously handsome man I hate-to-crush on has just proposed I pretend to be his wife for a funeral. A funeral! Only, when he dangles a much-coveted position in exchange for my time, I can’t refuse. Who am I kidding, though? I seem to have a habit of not saying no to Mr. Wright.

Machlan Wright: Things spiral out of control the second we reach my small town. A place I swore I’d never return has suddenly become my inheritance. As in, I’ve inherited an entire town! Only, there’s one condition: my hot, top executive pretending to be my wife must marry me for real. What could possibly go wrong? (insert sarcasm)

Join Jane and Mach as they road trip to a lovely mountain town where memories haunt and relationships build. And it takes (the restoration of) a village for this marriage of convenience to question the past and change the future.

Another phenomenal story of second chance romance by L.B. Dunbar!

Mach and Jane's rocky road to love story drew me in from the very start. I really enjoyed seeing them come together and open up to one another. It was a captivating love story with just the right amount of spice!

I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed this book. Mach has been Jane’s boss for the last 8 years. They have both been attracted to each other but have not acted on their attraction. When Mach has to go back to his hometown for his grandfather’s funeral and will reading, he is told to bring a wife. Jane agrees to go with him as his fake wife, but they find out he needs to actually be married for his inheritance. Mach has given up on love in addition now has to deal with his estranged brother, while Jane has to try not to fall for Mach in this temporary situation. This is a steamy book with where both of them end up reevaluating their life. This also had a great narration.

Wow! LB Dunbar’s captured my heart again with this boss/employee, marriage of convenience, small town contemporary romance about a couple finding love in their forties! There’s so much I loved…the classic truck was a gem, the town and it’s ppl were delightful, and the chemistry between Jane and Mach was 🔥. Both were relatable characters…and the family dynamic was an excellent backdrop that highlighted their differences and demonstrated how each changed. Loved the epilogue!

Narration by Connor Crais and Emma Wilder was stellar! I was totally lost in Jane and Mach’s story from the beginning. I highly recommend!

This book is Great! I don’t know why it took me so long to listen to it. We need more books of main characters in their 40s and 50s. This author is becoming one of my favorites. The spice is just the perfect amount. Love how she used songs as the chapter heading.
