Publisher's Summary

Twelve women connected by the death of another, realizing what they most want from life and reaching for it - this is the year of discovery, the year of new beginnings.

Lizzie Reed wanted to be a pediatric nurse after watching her younger sister, Margaret, struggle as an infant with a hole in her heart. Going to college had been a given from the time she was a child. Her parents never planned it any other way, but when Lizzie goes to a party and wakes up in a guy’s bed without any memory of how she got there, the world comes crashing down around her.

How can she pick up and move on as if nothing ever happened? And what do you do when you can’t remember an event, but everyone is telling you you need to take a stand? Lizzie has to face her demons and make a decision that may change the course of her life forever. More than that, she has to face her parents, and let them know she isn’t the same little girl they think she is.

Good Book

May (The Year of Discovery Book Five) was another great read by M.L. Hamilton. Lizzie is going to college to be a pediatric nurse and was always focused on school. She decided one day to attend a party and ended up in a guy's bed with no memory of what happened. She tries to move on but it isn't easy for her. She doesn't talk much about it but needs to open up to her family about what happened. I loved reading Lizzie's story and can't wait to read more in this series.

An Awesome Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it inspiring. Lizzie is a hard working college student, from a strict home, after a party she can't remember what happened to her but deep down she knows it wasn't good. Her world starts to fray around the edges and then her sister needs surgery on top of it. With the help of co-workers, friends and her little sister, she finds new strength to face her situation and deal with it. As with all the titles in this series, you are just absorbed into the story. This combination of author and narrator, can't be beat. Looking forward to next month.

Lizzie’s Story

The fifth book in The Year of Discovery series, but it can certainly be listened to as a stand alone.

Lizzie’s story is definitely relevant to situations that are unfortunately becoming all to familiar these days. She is a strong woman and I was thrilled with how this story was presented.

Kelley Hazen is one of the best narrators I’ve listened to. Not only does she give each character their own voice, but each has their own personality that has carried throughout the series. Fantastic!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Lizzie's Problems

This will be a 12 short great book series, in 5th book May the main character is Lizzie a college student who had a devastating event happened to her and goes to Dr. Saito after urging of her friends. She has difficulty handling it all with added stress while her younger sister Margaret has to have immediate life threating surgery. Her friends Mel and Bonnie help her more than doc and Lizzie comes face to face with ex-boyfriend. Great narration and cannot wait for June as Mel will be primary character, I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

Protect me from the darkness

Luke's confidence is badly shaken when, after attending a party, she finds she can remember nothing about the evening and she doesn't know what to do. But she has to be strong for her family's same when little sister Maggie is found to have serious health problems. The series of life changing moments in the lives of twelve seperate, but interconnected women continues, each a very different stand alone short story.
Told in the first person, the subject of that particular month is vividly characterised, her hopes and fears clearly documented. Kelley Haden narrates, each month assuming the persona of the new protagonist and giving separate voice to each of the other characters. A good pairing of story and performer.
My thanks to the rights holder of the Year of Discovery series who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy of May. With the brief taster chapter for June already heard at the end of the book, I look forward to the next in this cleverly conceived and often inspirational series.
