Story
Perhaps no figure in biblical scholarship has been the subject of more controversy and debate than Mary Magdalene. Although she is discussed in the gospels of Philip, Thomas, Peter, and Bartholomew in the collection of writings known as the Gnostic gospels that were rejected by the early Christian church, there is no better insight into this mysterious and influential woman than Mary's own gospel.

Letters to a Starseed asks the biggest questions that mystics and philosophers through the ages have been asking: What is the soul, where did it originate, and why have we chosen to come here at this time? As a planet, we are waking up to the fact that the ancient prophecies and warnings from the elders and wise ones are no longer predictions, but our waking reality. They are not just coming or even near...we are living them right now. What we do now matters to the future of this planet. And we all have a role to play. Do you remember why you have come?

Before a vision of a mysterious "Lady" invited Clark Strand and Perdita Finn to pray the rosary, they were not only uninterested in becoming Catholic but finished with institutional religion altogether. Their main spiritual concerns were the fate of the planet and the future of their children and grandchildren in an age of ecological collapse. But this Lady barely even referred to the Church and its proscriptions. Instead, she spoke of the miraculous power of the rosary to transform lives and heal the planet, and revealed the secrets within the rosary’s prayers and mysteries.

Publisher's Summary
A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse - and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of the only gospel that was written in the name of a woman: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.
Mary's gospel reveals a radical love that sits at the heart of the Christian story. Her gospel says that we are not sinful; we are not to feel ashamed or unworthy for being human. In fact, our purpose is to be fully human, to be a "true human being" - that is, a person who has remembered that, yes, we are a messy, limited ego, and we are also a limitless soul.
And all we need to do is to turn inward (again and again); to meditate, like Mary Magdalene, in the way her gospel directs us, so that we can see past the ego of our own little lives to what's more real, and lasting, and infinite, and already here, within.
With searing clarity, Watterson explains how and why Mary Magdalene came to be portrayed as the penitent prostitute and relates a more historically and theologically accurate depiction of who Mary was within the early Christ movement. And she shares how this discovery of Mary's gospel has allowed her to practice, and to experience, a love that never ends, a love that transforms everything.

Easily moved, easily grounded
This book was unique in 2 ways.
1 - Its the only audio book that I finished and immediately started over. I've listened to many books more than once, but never twice in a row. If I could use the whole book as a mantra I would.
2 - I ordered and I am now working through all of the support material listed in the book. I have NEVER done this with any book or audio book.
This story is told with a vulnerability that is missing in so many Christian texts. Meggan Watterson brings us on her journey one vulnerable step at a time. She makes it safe for you to explore your own emotions while she journeys through the paradox of traveling long distances to find something that has always been inside of you.
Give yourself the gift of this story. Sit back, relax, and let Meggan reveal to you the love of Mary Magdalene.
Thank you Meggan, for writing this story. Thank you for starting me on my journey. I am profoundly grateful to get to discover Christianity through this lens. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

The Sample on audible is not from this book
I read the hard-cover version of this book, and was amazed. I thought to buy the audible book to listen to, to "read again" as I drove across country. It's that kind of book. I first listened to the sample, and it is NOT from the book at all -- it is not a scene from a later chapter, or a sample of a page. I contacted audible and was told that they can't do anything about the mismatch; "buy the book and if you don't like it, return it.' Oh well. So I bought the book -- and thankfully, the book you BUY IS the same as the hardcover book, verbatim. The book you buy is NOT the sample you hear before you purchase -- FYI. To get an idea of what the book is about, go to amazon.com and click on the "look inside" link. The author narrates her own work, so the only benefit from the sample is that you can hear what her voice sounds like.

Not enough Mary Magdalene..
Not much here directly discusses Mary Magdalene past the introduction. I am only 2 hours in and while the author's autobiographical narratives are nice stories, they do little to teach me about what I came to this book to learn. too much author, not enough Mary Magdalene..I will be returning because it's not what I thought I was buying..

Exploring the feminine side of spirituality
Meggan Watterson' s "Mary Magdalene Revealed ", is an initiate, loving and lyrical exploration of the feminine side of spirituality - a spiritual tradition that doesn't oppose the masculine spiritual traditions, but instead, completes them.
It is about speaking your truth and reclaiming your wholeness- whether you identify as male or female or other, - but especially honoring the female side of truth that has so long been left out of the discussion in Western spiritual traditions.
There are plenty of scholarly quotes in this book, but this is no dry tome. The narrative spins out in poetic ecstasies, interweaving personal anecdotes with scripture and myth and personal reflections.
This is less a book to study than a book to savor and reflect upon, little by little.
It is a book to call you home.

Meggan the Martyr
I enjoyed the concept of Mary Magdalene and her apostle story. I felt the author was very damaged and portrayed her research as her healing process. Also I feel her interpretation of biblical event concerning Jesus and the apostles are subjective and hold no weight.
The concept of Mary being viewed as feminine, nurturing, loving oneness like energy.. brilliant. But I’ve been on that train and plane to enlightenment. So it was behind my time.
I feel it’s more her personal whinny life story more than it’s about Magdalene.

I just loved this book so so so much, I always felt that part of the story was missing... now it feels so much more complete. I always felt that the God portrayed wasn't right... now I have my answer and it matches what I feel is right deep inside me...
I think everyone should read this book, because it's so nice to know I am just human, and that's the whole point.

Beautiful book...
Deep and wonderful. Time to end the male dominance which so unbalances our world.
Women clearly have much to add to our spiritual understanding and practice. I've never understood the domination by men in both religious and political spheres .. of course, the results of this lack of balance speak for themselves.
I find myself siding with the authors view of Mary Magdaline, as a spiritual leader, an apostle.
The harlot story is an attempt to discredit.
I'm not Christian and have no particular affinity for the Christ story, but enjoyed the idea of his humanity in this retelling of the Mary Magdalene narrative.

Life changing
Like Meggan, I too was always drawn to a spiritual life, but growing up in New England I felt alone in my spiritual truth even while surrounded by churches. This book was a validation of all that I knew to be true in my heart but was afraid to say. I am a spiritual mentor to other women and MMR has been pivotal in owning that calling.

Not what was expecting
I was hoping for a scholarly treatise on the Gospel of Mary. Although a very tender and highly personal and certainly loving reflection on how this Gospel has impacted the author’s life it was not what I was seeking.

a powerful and revealing journey for men as well
This is an extremely powerful book tracing the authors journey into the Heart of Mary Magdalene and her own heart. it's not a line by line analysis of the gospel of Mary but relates the fundamental message of the gospel very accessibly because of the personal journey of the author we are taken on as she unravels Mary's message and ascends/descends into her own heart. Although much of the author's audience is female this is a powerful and important book for men as well, restoring a half of what has been lost and helping us understand the male-dominated direction the church went down which just hasn't felt right to so many of us. I wept frequently throughout the book such was the closeness of its message to my own heart. if you ever felt a love for Jesus but didn't belong in the church this revealed message of Mary may restore your own heart.

Vulnerable and honest
It was heartwarming to see how humbly the author approaches each topic and how she is aware of her own potential biases and illustrates how commonly held ideals are upheld without question. Very well researched and incredibly human whilst still feeling quite profound, spiritual and perhaps even a little divine in a very mortal way. Thank you Meggan Watterson for taking the time to craft this work. Appreciate it!

The Red Egg
Seems I have waited this entire life to hear the truth of Magdalene shown and so beautifully written and spoken by Meggan although I always knew within my heart this truth

Great insights, jumbled narrative
First of all I loved how personal this book was. It made it really relatable and real. The history about Mary Magdalene was super fascinating and I now really want to read her gospel. It felt to me as if her version of Christianity is essentially modern Buddhism, with an emphasis on feminism and not worshiping God as a father, nor a mother. All of which I wholeheartedly believe and can get behind. The missed opportunity in this book is however the narrative. It jumped from biblical stories to personal adventures and learnings. At times it made me feel really lost as to where the story was and who was telling it (the author or Mary). It could have been such a great book if some of the more esoteric elements had been left out, if the story had been told somewhat more chronologically or if we could have had a little bit more history. I write this as a non-christian Christian (raised in the traditions but not in belief). I felt that some knowledge of Christianity was taken for granted and some expressions felt a bit like you’d only know if you’re already on the inside, so to speak. I don’t know all the stories and dying to get a more complete image of Mary Magdalene. Overall though, a great book.
