Publisher's Summary

A gospel, as ancient and authentic as any of the gospels that the Christian bible contains, was buried deep in the Egyptian desert after an edict was sent out in the 4th century to have all copies of it destroyed. Fortunately, some rebel monks were wise enough to refuse - and thanks to their disobedience and spiritual bravery, we have several manuscripts of the only gospel that was written in the name of a woman: The Gospel of Mary Magdalene.

Mary's gospel reveals a radical love that sits at the heart of the Christian story. Her gospel says that we are not sinful; we are not to feel ashamed or unworthy for being human. In fact, our purpose is to be fully human, to be a "true human being" - that is, a person who has remembered that, yes, we are a messy, limited ego, and we are also a limitless soul.

And all we need to do is to turn inward (again and again); to meditate, like Mary Magdalene, in the way her gospel directs us, so that we can see past the ego of our own little lives to what's more real, and lasting, and infinite, and already here, within.

With searing clarity, Watterson explains how and why Mary Magdalene came to be portrayed as the penitent prostitute and relates a more historically and theologically accurate depiction of who Mary was within the early Christ movement. And she shares how this discovery of Mary's gospel has allowed her to practice, and to experience, a love that never ends, a love that transforms everything.

Easily moved, easily grounded

This book was unique in 2 ways.

1 - Its the only audio book that I finished and immediately started over. I've listened to many books more than once, but never twice in a row. If I could use the whole book as a mantra I would.

2 - I ordered and I am now working through all of the support material listed in the book. I have NEVER done this with any book or audio book.

This story is told with a vulnerability that is missing in so many Christian texts. Meggan Watterson brings us on her journey one vulnerable step at a time. She makes it safe for you to explore your own emotions while she journeys through the paradox of traveling long distances to find something that has always been inside of you.

Give yourself the gift of this story. Sit back, relax, and let Meggan reveal to you the love of Mary Magdalene.

Thank you Meggan, for writing this story. Thank you for starting me on my journey. I am profoundly grateful to get to discover Christianity through this lens. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Thank you

This book was so activating for me. I listened to it and sobbed through so much of it. It helped me understand myself and my purpose more fully. It validated what has been in my heart for so long. I could feel the truth in Meggan’s writing in my cells. I would highly highly recommend it!!

The Sample on audible is not from this book

I read the hard-cover version of this book, and was amazed. I thought to buy the audible book to listen to, to "read again" as I drove across country. It's that kind of book. I first listened to the sample, and it is NOT from the book at all -- it is not a scene from a later chapter, or a sample of a page. I contacted audible and was told that they can't do anything about the mismatch; "buy the book and if you don't like it, return it.' Oh well. So I bought the book -- and thankfully, the book you BUY IS the same as the hardcover book, verbatim. The book you buy is NOT the sample you hear before you purchase -- FYI. To get an idea of what the book is about, go to amazon.com and click on the "look inside" link. The author narrates her own work, so the only benefit from the sample is that you can hear what her voice sounds like.

Exploring the feminine side of spirituality

Meggan Watterson' s "Mary Magdalene Revealed ", is an initiate, loving and lyrical exploration of the feminine side of spirituality - a spiritual tradition that doesn't oppose the masculine spiritual traditions, but instead, completes them.

It is about speaking your truth and reclaiming your wholeness- whether you identify as male or female or other, - but especially honoring the female side of truth that has so long been left out of the discussion in Western spiritual traditions.
There are plenty of scholarly quotes in this book, but this is no dry tome. The narrative spins out in poetic ecstasies, interweaving personal anecdotes with scripture and myth and personal reflections.
This is less a book to study than a book to savor and reflect upon, little by little.
It is a book to call you home.

Stunning soul truths from an important voice of divine feminine.

The lost Gospels of Mary Magdalene have been well and truly been brought into the 21st-century via this amazing voice and soul. A perfect book for this time of the rising feminine. Inspiring and true. What a sweet gift.

Even the end credits are worth listening to!!

I grew up in the very conservative Baptist church in the Deep South. For those who are familiar with that experience... ‘nuff said, huh? 😆 It has taken me decades to clear out the brainwashing that held me in chains and to follow the voice within that never stopped calling me. I knew the teaching was garbage: “a woman should learn in silence...” yeah, right! But fighting that system as a child and young woman was nearly impossible. This beautiful book confirmed so much of what I suspected about MM, Jesus (and his view of women) and affirmed what my heart had always told me... the organized church has sold us a bill of goods and it’s time we called them on it. Meggan Watterson does an incredible job of telling MM’s story, sharing her gospel, and telling of Meggan’s own incredible adventures. Talk about walkin’ on the edge!! Lol! I loved the book from the start but I was friggin’ amazed when her end credits made me cry!! Seriously, this is a book who’s time has come and I HIGHLY recommend it! I look forward to listening to it again as soon as possible. Sincere thanks to Meggan and everyone she called out in those end credits. I love you!

Aka The REAL JC revealed via Mary

Listening to this book is like drinking in pure clean water when you were parched.

I’ve always had the sense that the Catholic Church does not portray Jesus correctly, especially that it has a recitation of being unworthy included in the mass— “Lord I am not worthy to receive you..” 😣 That has always seemed totally off base to me & now I know why —>Mary Magdalene revealed that Jesus does not see us as sinners or as unworthy, in fact the opposite: we are good, born worthy, always worthy & loved no matter what.

I love this book and so appreciate all the research & labor that went into it. Thank you Meggan 🙏🏼 Peace, Love & Joy be with you ❤️

Not enough Mary Magdalene..

Not much here directly discusses Mary Magdalene past the introduction. I am only 2 hours in and while the author's autobiographical narratives are nice stories, they do little to teach me about what I came to this book to learn. too much author, not enough Mary Magdalene..I will be returning because it's not what I thought I was buying..

Meggans jourany with Mary's teachings

would have liked more on Mary's teachings and less of Meggans jourany . I understand how this book will empower so many people and this is wonderful.
But this book for me was not what I hoped it would be .
My search for the 3 Mary's their lives and teachings continue.

Great to listen to

I liked this book because it clarifies my own experience of the divine. The writers journey from researching the story of Mary raised an awareness within herself and was illustrated beautifully in her description which was lovely to listen to.

Coming home

I experienced A real coming home listening to the words as they were read by Meggan. Full of moments that resonated deep within my soul. Moments that I literally wanted to sob in deep recognition and remembrance of a truth so deeply buried my heart burst open.

Tears of joy

Narrated by the author, the book was absolutely spell binding from start to finish.
This book fills in all the gaps. Those left by the erasure of women in the faith, due to the patriarchs.

This is what I've been searching for all my life..

I just loved this book so so so much, I always felt that part of the story was missing... now it feels so much more complete. I always felt that the God portrayed wasn't right... now I have my answer and it matches what I feel is right deep inside me...

I think everyone should read this book, because it's so nice to know I am just human, and that's the whole point.

Thank You Megan, for writing the book you were born to write! X

Beautiful book...

Deep and wonderful. Time to end the male dominance which so unbalances our world.
Women clearly have much to add to our spiritual understanding and practice. I've never understood the domination by men in both religious and political spheres .. of course, the results of this lack of balance speak for themselves.
I find myself siding with the authors view of Mary Magdaline, as a spiritual leader, an apostle.
The harlot story is an attempt to discredit.
I'm not Christian and have no particular affinity for the Christ story, but enjoyed the idea of his humanity in this retelling of the Mary Magdalene narrative.

A life defining book

This book has been honestly one of the most influential of my life. Mainly because it affirmed so many of the knowings of my own heart. There were so many truths in my heart that Meggan 'proved' with both her scholarly research and personal experience. Through her story telling I felt seen and validated in a way that I have not often experienced in my regular life. Listening to Meggan read this book was like sitting down to have a conversation with a friend, which made everything all the more affirming. I will be forever grateful for Meggan's love and commitment to this, her life's work.
