If prayer changed things, we'd all be in trouble. Imagine eight billion people storming heaven simultaneously. Imagine God throwing His papers all around and wondering what to do, who to answer. Imagine God finally plugging His ears and grinding His pearly white teeth in holy exasperation. This is a worse case scenario than if God just ignored us all and continues with His plan, which He came up with quite a long time ago when everything was calm and peaceful and humanity had not been invented. I suppose God could concentrate better back then, without everyone "storming heaven" with their prayers and "breaking through" to the blessed life. His plan is for our benefit, anyway. You must believe this, in spite of what the clergy say. You'll never pray the same way again.

Another terrific expose' from Martin Zender on the traditions of men concerning prayer. Many seem to think their prayers have the power to move God to act in accordance with their will. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our prayers are only as powerful as the One to Whom we pray and even then, God moves in accordance with His will not ours. Th promise to the Body of Christ during this Administration when we pray is not miracles, but the peace that passed understanding no matter how Father chooses to act.
