As indicated by the title, this book presents a very critical look at the doctrine of Hell, which is rarely criticized within Christendom today. The English word "hell" comes from the Anglo-Saxon "helan", which means "to cover, conceal, or hide". In the scriptures, there is no mention of "eternal torment" in the Old Testament, and in the Greek scriptures (the NT), there are three words translated to "hell": Gehenna, Hades, and Tartarus, none of which have anything to do with eternal torment. My objective is to guide you into the knowledge that the doctrine of hell is unbiblical and extremely harmful to those who hold to it.

Extremely Comforting

It never made sense to me that a God of love and mercy could possibly consign everyone who fails to “accept” Jesus to eternal torment. Like many believers, I have unsaved loved ones, and I now know they will experience God’s grace either in this life or after the grave. Zender ably refutes the awful doctrine of hell. The narrator was clear and easy to listen to. It was liberating.

Martin Zender exposes the lie that churches, pastors, bible study leaders, christian celebrities, and others have taught for too long to scare people into their religious systems and into dependency on others to teach them what it true instead of searching these things out for themselves. If you have any doubts concerning "hell" for yourself or your loved ones, get this audio book! Shout out to John Heth for his exceptional, clear narration as well.

What the hell?

I love how this book quotes enough scripture to gag a maggot and so it backs up everything it says with biblical principles. I also love how it sheds light on some of the harder to understand passages of scripture that I misunderstood for a long time when I was busy condemning people to hell. I still like his book. how to quit Church without quitting God better than this one. but this is a really good resource to have and it would make a great Bible study. kudos to Martin's under done a good job of explaining why the eternal flames of hell sound. so dumb when you really think about them.

if I had this in my mind 50 years ago...

The years I spent believing pastors instead of believing Scriptures. I can't get those years back but I hope you can skip the pain and fear of trusting people who must tow the denominational line instead of teaching what is written. I love trusting God like I trust a pilot. I can't fly the plane but o dont worry about anybody while they are in the cockpit.
