I’m not what she needs, but when her daddy’s club comes in hell bent on taking her home, I realize just how much she means to me, and I will never let her go. She’s mine to protect. Mine to hold. And maybe, just maybe, she’s the one to save me from myself.

Bros Before... Foes

This is one of Marteeka's books that I really need to be longer. Francis (Mars) Mars and Scarlett have horrific stories. Not only do I wish we got more of their respective histories, but I also need more of them happy and knowledge that there's more on the horizon. Yes, yes, I know that I'll see them again in future books too be able to check in, but it's not the same.

Before I turn into a whiny itch, I have to say the Lemon nearly stole the show. OMG! She has me in freaking stitches with her antics and brazen actions. She lets her fierce flag fly, and I love every. Single. Moment! It is absolutely, positively awesome!

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrator, Umi Markkanen, is fantastic as always. 🎧💚🎧

I always enjoy any peek into Karland’s MC gangs I can get—typically I have to suspend belief just a little bit, even though their contemporary. As the plausibility and/or continuity can sometimes be a teeny bit loose—but they’re so fun! This one was no exception—

Overall:
Continuity could’ve been a bit tighter, but nothing that took me out of the story. The writing is a blend of both showing and telling—I’d prefer more showing/less telling, but it manages to be gripping so no real complaints.

I love a good ‘she escapes him / is on the run’ type of read, this was fun. 4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Yet another fantastic audio production from Karland—she seems to fave mainly one narrator and this narrator is brilliant so it works well. 5 stars.

Good Addition

to the series new series. I enjoyed this story. It does deal with some heavy issues but I think they were handled well and I loved seeing some familiar faces in this one, especially Lemon. Overall it's a good story with great narration and solid characters.

Mine!!!!!!!!!!

I am hooked on Iron Tzars and each character gets more involved. Mars set his mind on Scarlet the moment he saw her. Scarlett came from a MC world and knew how it works, but Hammer made it worse by lying and tricking and treating her like she doesn't matters. So to save her sisters, she decide if I am not here, then they are safe. how wrong could she have been.

But not only did Hammer lie but so did her father and in the midst of learning the truth about her mother, and her father...she learns that Hammer is her twin sisters' father..#BAM. can we say whaaatttt?!?!?!

As always Uma makes the world not only believable but so real that you forget that you are not part of the Iron Tzars.

Heart pounding

First off, the narration was pitch perfect. Umi is clear and easy to understand and does the voices beautifully. I’ve listened to everything she’s recorded under this name and I love it all.
Now the story. My heart was absolutely pounding and I was riveted. I couldn’t make myself shut it off and go to bed! Scarlett goes through so much and had a very close call. Karland did a great job of making her sympathetic. Mars has also seen some times, and has some serious issues. Nothing replaces therapy, but these two wounded souls reach out to each other and that helps them both.
Lemon has a significant role in this book, too (after her debut in WYLDE). She is a badsass, tough and smart mouthed, and so very loyal and caring. Would love to be friends with that girl. She gets her own love story in ROCKET, later. Here, her actions save Scarlett, and she is on Scarlett’s side to the end. Well, somebody’s end, anyway.
There are some TRIGGERS to watch out for, including ultimate self harm, discussion of pregnancy loss, graphic violence including torture, domestic abuse, isolation, language.
Book is SAFE.
Heat is EXPLICIT.
TROPES include Damsel in Distress, Instalove, Abused Heroine, Damaged Hero, Morally Dark, and MC Romance.

Mars and Scarlett

I was gifted an Audible version of this book from the author through Story Origin. This is Book 10 of 13. I have read/listened to many of them. This is such an entertaining series. Well written. Wonderful, believable characters. These MC men love and protect their women. If you are OK with reading/listening around all the "f" bombs, you'll love this book. The MC men and especially the women and their language!

I'm giving the narrator, Uma Markkanen, 5 stars too. She brings the story to life performing with believable male and female voices.
