The Challenge of two Worlds Colliding

Ivy and Sem meet at Halloween and the attraction is instantaneous. And then, everything goes sideways, and Sem has to win Ivy's affections again. Reading about/listening to their courtship was sweet and spicy in all the best ways, and the happily ever after made me happy sigh. Well narrated and engaging, this was a great listen.

Romantic on All Hallows Eve

Married to the All Hallows’ Eve Alien by Alma Nisson is a romantic comedy/ science fiction series. This series all takes place around the holidays and all for aliens looking for their human bride. All the human bride don’t know that they are being courted by the alliance officers. This story is on Halloween during a Halloween party. It’s entertaining, engaging, interesting and fun. Jill Smith and Jack Calihan are both amazing narrators. They bring the story to an amazing level.

Sem and Ivy

Story: Ivy (h) attends a Halloween party where the last thing she expects is to be swept off her feet by a mysterious stranger, Sem (H), in a knight costume. Sem is protective, kind, and oddly familiar, but what Ivy doesn’t know is that he’s also an alien officer bound by an intergalactic code far beyond human understanding. As their relationship deepens, Ivy is shaken by shocking revelations about Sem’s origins, her own traumatic past, and the hidden ties that bind them across the stars. Drawn into the rigid customs of the Alliance society, Ivy has to deal with alien traditions, face a haunting betrayal, and stand beside Sem in a world where love is tested at every turn. Faced with repeated trials, from cultural alienation to intergalactic conflicts, Ivy and Sem have to choose between following duty or forging their own path together. Lovely alien-human romance, with a side of heat, exploring love, resilience, internal conflict, overcoming challenges, trauma, healing, and commitment, where two people from vastly different worlds forge a life together in a universe filled with complex rules and daunting challenges. I'm a little bemused that some reviewers find the use of anatomically correct terms to be out of place in romance - personally I think that we're just conditioned, at least in US society, that using those terms is somehow taboo, and that euphemisms and/or slang are more appropriate.

Audio: The narrators did a really great job with this story. The audiobook uses a male narrator and a female narrator – I always appreciate when an author goes for the additional costs of having two narrators so that listeners can hear male dialogue with a male voice and female dialogue with a female voice. Jack Calihan does a great job with the tone he brings to Sem and the other male voices, and Jill Smith gave Ivy a voice that seemed to embody her, as well as other female voices. The audio quality is good and there were no issues.

A standalone in the series that brings two cultures together in a chance meeting. Secrecy is paramount and mind wipes force a do over. Social injustice and revenge create conflict. Recommend reading the series in order for background but it's not necessary.

Chose Me

It took me a while to get in to this book. I don’t know why but I went back to it today and I have to say that alien loved his human wife! She was bratty to me but he did everything to love and protect her. The Goddess was a joke and that punishment was barbaric. I can’t wait for the next book’

Really enjoyed!

I listened to this each day while working (shhhh) and really enjoyed it! It is so well written on the sweetness of falling in love and the pain of being almost torn apart. And then finding their way back to each other. The audio version can either make or break the story when you haven't read it beforehand (which I had not) and in this case, the narration was well-done. I was not pulled out of it.

Sem and Ivy

This story was interesting. Aliens abducted human women intended for the black-market. Sem is one of the good guys, and they intercept this illegal human cargo. Sem’s species believes in fated mates. Upon touching Ivy, he realizes he has found his fated mate. Unfortunately, these humans are to have their memory wiped and be returned to earth. Ivy would not remember him.
Sem breaks some of the rules so he can monitor Ivy’s life. Eventually, they meet again. It is complex with the different customs, rules, punishments, and romance behaviors. I think reading the previous books in the series would have answered some of my questions, and enhanced this story. In general, it works as a stand alone book. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Part Romance & Part Solid Case For Honesty Always

Gleeful Goblin Review: What a tremendous book with excellent audio narration! The book is dual POV/dual narrators both of whom do a fantastic job imo. There's an absolute ton of things to love about this book and I'm especially grateful to the author for the specificity of the content warnings at the top of the book and that the content will be more serious/darker themes. But that being said, I was really impressed with how the author handled on page SA (not by MMC) and discussed de@th of loved ones/de@th by suic¡de (not in detail at all, discussed in relation to the past). Those are super heavy topics to deal with and having experienced both things in my own life I was really appreciative of how they were handled in this story. It was obvious that a lot of effort went into handling sensitive topics and especially with the SA, the way that the FMC and her friend discuss what to do next was spot on. It might seem odd to focus on such heavy topics for part of my review but honestly, as a trauma survivor seeing hard things I've lived through be in fiction and have it be a big deal but not something that is the only defining issue for a character's life is....inspiring of hope for me. Horrible things can and do happen in our lives but stories like this are sparks of hope that those things don't automatically take away our own HEA. And rest assured, this couple have their HEA! I loved the unique way they make it to that HEA as well. The book gives us a ton of context on how things like a mate bond and telepathy function in fiction which is FASCINATING. And because of some in fiction legal issues we get to experience instant fated mate recognitions as well as almost a second chance romance scenario which was superb. I'd also say this book is a great treatise on why you don't keep secrets, even if you think you're protecting someone you love, because the fallout is almost always worse when that comes to light than if you were honest from the start no matter how good your intentions were. 5/5 Stars

FAVORITE BOOK OF THE SERIES!

The characters were so cute and romantic. I feel like this book really helped to get a good idea of the beliefs and culture of the Alliance people. I also like the they didn’t leave everything up to fate and the goddesses, it shows their attraction and I love it! Awesome read 10/10 recommend!.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It’s very well written and I enjoyed the narration and I especially like how he has to to make her fall back in love with him again.
