A COSTUME THAT IS NOT A COSTUME

Sem

I attended a Halloween party in New Orleans with another officer from the Alliance Force. We all need to find wives, and costume parties are some of the best places to meet human women as they think our grey skin is a part of our costume.

At this All Hallows’ Eve party, I met Ivy. We talked and then exchanged contact information. Not a day goes by that we don’t communicate with each other. She’s the most wonderful woman I’ve ever met. But the problem is, she thinks I’m human.

Now, forces beyond my control have pushed me to tell her the truth. And what’s worse, we are both facing physical punishments for our moral crimes from the sadistic Imperial High Priestess.

WILL SHE EVER FORGIVE ME?

The Challenge of two Worlds Colliding

Ivy and Sem meet at Halloween and the attraction is instantaneous. And then, everything goes sideways, and Sem has to win Ivy's affections again. Reading about/listening to their courtship was sweet and spicy in all the best ways, and the happily ever after made me happy sigh. Well narrated and engaging, this was a great listen.

I WANT MORE

Sem and Ivy. I absolutlly loved this book. The narrators are awesome. I have other books by them. Jack Calihan's voice is to die for. Sem is an alien and Ivy is human. They are fated. He saves her from abduction but has to erase her memory of it and him. Later he sees her on earth on Halloween so he can show his true saelf. They have a connection. They become very very close while he is in his sembiatic form as Swedish. When she is abducted again she finds out about him and the goddesses find out they have been intimant before marriage. They are to be punished. I loved their story but really someone needs to bring these aliens into the next century and get rid of the sadistic fake goddesses. I do recommend these series of books.

Wonderful Story!

Having reviewed the E-Book version of Married to the All Hallow’s Eve Alien I was eager to immerse myself in the audio version and enjoyed its fresh and sensuous narration that complemented the written version in its own very captivating way.

Book four successfully interweaves a holiday tradition with the story of Alliance Force officer Sem and Human teacher Ivy.
The world the author has created with the Alliance series of books is a detailed rich one which can easily be imagined as existing in some other reality.
The Goddesses have brought Sem and Ivy together through tragedy and though fate can be a cruel mistress and they must separate it will not be forever.
Captivating and filled with secrets, strong personal challenges, intrigue, sweet emotions, and spice I enjoyed their fascinating journey.

Part Romance & Part Solid Case For Honesty Always

Gleeful Goblin Review: What a tremendous book with excellent audio narration! The book is dual POV/dual narrators both of whom do a fantastic job imo. There's an absolute ton of things to love about this book and I'm especially grateful to the author for the specificity of the content warnings at the top of the book and that the content will be more serious/darker themes. But that being said, I was really impressed with how the author handled on page SA (not by MMC) and discussed de@th of loved ones/de@th by suic¡de (not in detail at all, discussed in relation to the past). Those are super heavy topics to deal with and having experienced both things in my own life I was really appreciative of how they were handled in this story. It was obvious that a lot of effort went into handling sensitive topics and especially with the SA, the way that the FMC and her friend discuss what to do next was spot on. It might seem odd to focus on such heavy topics for part of my review but honestly, as a trauma survivor seeing hard things I've lived through be in fiction and have it be a big deal but not something that is the only defining issue for a character's life is....inspiring of hope for me. Horrible things can and do happen in our lives but stories like this are sparks of hope that those things don't automatically take away our own HEA. And rest assured, this couple have their HEA! I loved the unique way they make it to that HEA as well. The book gives us a ton of context on how things like a mate bond and telepathy function in fiction which is FASCINATING. And because of some in fiction legal issues we get to experience instant fated mate recognitions as well as almost a second chance romance scenario which was superb. I'd also say this book is a great treatise on why you don't keep secrets, even if you think you're protecting someone you love, because the fallout is almost always worse when that comes to light than if you were honest from the start no matter how good your intentions were. 5/5 Stars

Sem and Ivy

This story was interesting. Aliens abducted human women intended for the black-market. Sem is one of the good guys, and they intercept this illegal human cargo. Sem’s species believes in fated mates. Upon touching Ivy, he realizes he has found his fated mate. Unfortunately, these humans are to have their memory wiped and be returned to earth. Ivy would not remember him.
Sem breaks some of the rules so he can monitor Ivy’s life. Eventually, they meet again. It is complex with the different customs, rules, punishments, and romance behaviors. I think reading the previous books in the series would have answered some of my questions, and enhanced this story. In general, it works as a stand alone book. The narration was well done. I Enjoyed It

I read the first book in this series and really enjoyed it- thought it unique. So I was looking forward to more. I was especially happy that this book continued the erased memories theme that I liked so well from the first book. I would listen to more in this series.

Jill Smith and Jack Calihan did a great job bringing these two characters to life. I loved their voices and thought they suited their respective characters well.

Sem and Ivy's Story . . .

Ivy is a human captured by aliens and caged, then rescued by Sem, an officer from the Alliance Force, also an alien but one of the “good guys”. It doesn’t take long until Sem discovers that Ivy is his mate. But because of his beliefs and culture, he cannot be with her and the aliens wipe her memories and return her home to Earth. Unfortunately, she is captured once more and she must be returned… but there are other circumstances that could complicate this. Will he let her go now? Will they ever be together again? Would she even recognize him if they wiped her mind and they met once more? Or does he have no choice this time and must leave her behind?

This series is so exciting and captures the reader’s interest right at the start. I have enjoyed most of the characters, appreciating their loyalty and interactions. Grab your copy and see what the future holds for Sem and Ivy… or is there no future for them this time?

The dual narrators for the audiobook version, Jill Smith and Jack Calihan, bring the “reading” experience alive for the listener. They do an amazing job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate and more realistic impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize the reader with the characters, and offers a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.

Interesting World Building

This is a pretty interesting story with a different twist to the fated mates trope. I found the world-building interesting and it was easy enough to follow along despite not having read other books in the series so far. There is a lot of emphasis and plot development centered around cultural differences and expectations, and it's well-written and relatable even if the reader hasn't had personal experiences with the issues which arise. I think the author did a good job with this. I would read other books in the series.

Sem & Ivy

The fourth book in the Alliance Holiday, Sem attended a Halloween party in New Orleans with another officer from the Alliance Force. Ivy a human is there and they meet. They have religious and social customs that are vastly different and will cause troubles for them. There is twists, turns, drama, villains, secrets revealed and love. The story is well worth read and listening to. I enjoyed Jill Smith, Jack Calihan's narration of this story.
