Publisher's Summary

Lauren “Lo” Bowman is in a bit of a pickle. She needs money, like ASAP. She lost her job, the rent is due, and her car needs repairs. Problem is, the inheritance left to her by her old-fashioned Granny has one stipulation before she can collect: She has to be married. Let’s just say suitors (of any gender) are not knocking down her door.

And then Cara Simms, her best friend from childhood that she’s recently reconnected with, pours her heart out and confesses that she needs money to pay for grad school. Lo has a completely brilliant idea: They should get hitched. Not married married. Like, fake married. All they have to do is play the part for the lawyers, get the money, and then get the marriage annulled. Easy as hell. Well, it starts out that way, but being fake married feels a lot like being real married, and Lo is flipping out. She cannot be falling for her best friend. Can she?

cute story

this was a VERY cute story...but the narration practically ruined it for me. poor editing and i could hear background noise and the narrator swallowing a breathing, pitch and modulation were not on par with the emotion of the words. there were also several moments of narration where the sound changed and it was clear it was recorded at a different time. it was awful, i almost quit this story like 15 times. i’m glad i didn’t, it was a cute bit of fluff, i enjoyed the story

could not get though the 1st two or three chapters

Not worth the time or the money. Like a bad comedian, the delivery of the message is off, so the story is off and the narration is off.

Worst Narrator

Honestly the narration ruined any chance the book had of really being enjoyable. It sounded like it was being read by a high schooler reading a script for a school play. The youth in the narration made it almost impossible to listen to the sex scenes, especially. I realize narrators take time to get used to but this is the first one ever I never was able to grow fond of or at least adjust to.

Maybe just read this one?

Sounds like it was read by one of my friends, and not in the good way. Also the reckless pre-rich money spending gave me anxiety. badly.

Terrible narration, mediocre story

This was one of the worst narrations I’ve heard to date. I recommend sampling before purchasing. As for the story, it’s as predictable as it gets, but that in and of itself would have been fine had I not just recently listened to “Didn’t stay in Vegas”. It’s the same storyline with very few differences! If you must purchase, read this one, don’t buy the audio.

Very Difficult

to review this story, the narration is so bad it made me wonder if it made the writing appear juvenile and simplistic. I've enjoyed the majority of the author's books I've listened to so I'll give CMC the benefit of the doubt, though it's possible the reason that this reader was chosen was to hide the juvenile, simplistic text. Out of loyalty to Style, Chord, and the Violet Hill collection this one got 2 stars from me instead of one. All in all a disappointing effort from a writer who can and has done much better.

waste of time and credit

this book is not good at all. The narrator is awful and the writting is childish in nature. This book requires such a suspension of belief it might as well be labeled fantasy!

A story of friendship and love

This story is about two best friends getting married as they both need money, and Lauren can only get the inheritance money once she is married, but while they are playing the part they start to fall for each other. The narrator was good but occasionally could hear echoing which was a bit off putting.

A sweet story

I really enjoyed this story - this author has become a real favourite of mine and I really enjoy their writing. I find it light enough to be able to listen without worrying about something horrible happening, which is what I really need at the moment. I really enjoyed the friends-to-lovers plot and there were some really sweet moments. I didn't find the narration the easiest to listen to. There have been other books by this author which I have enjoyed more on that front, but I'm glad I stuck with it for the story and the happy ending
