Eliot Crace is the troubled grandson of legendary children’s author Miriam Crace who died twenty years ago. Eliot is convinced she was murdered—by poison.

To her surprise, Susan enjoys reading the manuscript which is set in the South of France and revolves around the mysterious death of Lady Margaret Chalfont, days before she was about to change her will. But when it is revealed that Lady Margaret was also poisoned, alarm bells begin to ring.

The more Susan reads, the clearer it becomes that Eliot has deliberately concealed clues about his grandmother’s death inside the book.

Desperately, Susan tries to prevent Eliot from putting himself in harm’s way—but his behaviour is becoming increasingly erratic. Another murder follows . . . and suddenly Susan finds herself to be the number one suspect.

Once again, the real and the fictional worlds have become dangerously entangled. And if Susan doesn't solve the mystery of Pünd’s Last Case, she could well be its next victim.

I love Horowitz, but this was too easy to solve

I have listened to all of the available Horowitz crime series and typically love them. The narration is always fantastic, and Marble Hall Murders has the terrific Lesley Manville and Tim McMullen. As is often the case, there is a book within the book--so two murders to solve. Unfortunately, in this case, I figured out the solution nearly immediately, as soon as the relevant clue was dropped into the book. And then became extremely frustrated when the lead character could not see the obvious deceptions in front of her. I'm hoping for another Horowitz and Hawthorne book, as this latest in the Magpie series has me a bit let down.

I really love the susan Ryland series

The book within a book is a fun and complicated plot and it never fails to disappoint!

Excellent Mystery. Excellent Audiobook.

It continues Horowitz’s signature style of blending a contemporary whodunit with a classic detective novel. He is my favorite author.

Best yet

I loved the other two books, but I almost want to start this one over again and catch everything again. I loved it. I can’t wait to start the TV series.

Like the writing style of the author.

Slow at times. Over all a good listening. I would like to read more in the series.
