Publisher's summary

Tricked. Hoodwinked. Swindled. Betrayed. Take your pick.

Once upon a time, the inhabitants of Earth got hosed.

Not long ago, GameChangers released their newest virtual reality game - Manifest. A game of exotic magic and fantastic adventure. A game where each player "manifested" with their optimal race, class, and attributes. A game of infinite possibilities where you could be your truest self.

The game was an instant success, drawing countless players from across the globe. Manifest turned out to be much more than a mere game, however. It was a weapon for the single most destructive terrorism attack in history.

It happened in an instant. Millions of people all falling into unshakable comas. Doctors, politicians, police, soldiers, teachers...none were spared. Global infrastructures failed, and chaos reigned supreme.

Oliver must now make the most important decision of his life. Will he follow his remaining family into the game, knowingly condemning his own body to death, or should he stay and help rebuild a society that had so easily cast him aside? The decision was irreversible. There would be no turning back.

Will he manifest?

Would you?

Solid humor, lovable characters, great voices

Comedy is this book's strongest suite, and but it is made possible through:
- lovable characters <3
- top quality character voices by the narrator
- and good eye from the author for producing interesting twists

There are also some epic moments, though the great character developments during those moments are far more interesting than the clash of battle itself.

Protagonist is voiced in falsetto

Struggled to listen to an otherwise solid story because of the performers choice to use falsetto for the protagonist for most of the book.

Very great start to this series.

Very interesting story. Loved that the mc was not playing you stereotypical race. Voices through me for a loop for awhile but now its the only way I can imagine them being portrayed. Some pretty comical parts too. looking forward to book 2

great story

I really enjoyed this story. Plenty of humor, and a few close calls, even a few sad parts. I particularly enjoyed the non cookie-cutter classes, and the Lilly.

Freddie Heinz is my favorite narrator thus far, as he gives a great variety of voices and accents to the characters.

Looking forward to book 2

Good story

I thought it started slow but got much better. I learned to like the characters but the main character has ADHD and the character voice is a bit annoying. But that is cosmetic where is the looting I know I would do a lot more looting. His character progression a little slow but overall i am looking forward to the second book.

Really enjoyable

*Disclaimer* I was provided a code for this audiobook by the author.

I really enjoyed this title. It provided a much needed change of pace in the LitRPG/GameLit genre. There were a few issues with the narration like repeated sentences where you can tell the narrator stopped for the day& then later picked back up or a little longer pause but overall the narrator did a fantastic job & I really appreciate & love that each character has distinct voices on the level of what Nick Podehl can do. I’m excited to listen to the next book in the series & would recommend it to anyone that’s a fan of the genre.
