“Outlandish fun. . . . Making Money balances satire, knockabout farce and close observation of human—and non-human—foibles with impressive dexterity and deceptive ease. The result is another ingenious entertainment from the preeminent comic fantasist of our time.”—Washington Post

The hero of Going Postal has an even more dangerous job than the mail: overseeing the tanking Royal Bank and the printing of Ankh-Morpork’s first paper currency in this brilliant installment in New York Times bestselling author Sir Terry Pratchett’s beloved Discworld series.

The Royal Bank of Ankh-Morpork is facing a crisis, and who better to manage it than the man who turned around Ankh-Morpork’s inefficient Post Office, former arch-swindler-turned-Postmaster General Moist von Lipwig. Lord Vetinari once again makes Moist an offer he can’t refuse: resuscitate the venerable Royal Mint.

The bank has many problems: the chief cashier is almost certainly a vampire, the elderly chairman and her two loaded crossbows needs a daily walkie, there’s something strange happening in the cellar, and running the Royal Mint is costing a mint.

As Moist begins to make some ambitious changes, he accrues some dangerous enemies. Everyone knows money is power—and certain stakeholders will do anything to keep a firm grip on both . . .

The Discworld novels can be enjoyed in any order, but Making Money is the second book in the Moist von Lipwig series. The full series, in order, includes:

Without a doubt my absolute favorite narrator ever. Of all the Discworld books, which I discovered in 2022 and have only ever listened to and not read (well, I did read most of Pyramids, but then the new audio version came out so I listened to the rest), my favorites seem to be this particular trilogy of Going Postal, Making Money, and (yet to be listened to at this time) Raising Steam. I also loved Small Gods, and Andy Serkis certainly did great work there, but Richard Coyle just constantly goes above and beyond in an almost distracting way like “damn, how did he produce the insane laugh of Hubert in the recording booth?” Anyway, I’m downloading Raising Steam now and listening as soon as I type this last period.

Best narration ever

You can’t go wrong with Terry Pratchett. This story is great. Loveable characters, unexpected situations, great writing. The narration is spot on, too.

Terry Pratchett… always a winner

The view of Ank Morporks institutions from the viewpoint of Lord V! If only we had wise leaders like him!

The subtle humor of Terry Pratchet.

moist isn't one of my fave characters in the Discworld lore, but this is still a very fun listen

the reader did a fantastic job with the voices

Terry Pratchett has many observations of systems, people, and life spicing layers of storytelling. Great audiobook production here is a bonus

Detailed twisty fun story / great narration

see title (additional words added to meet the 15 word minimum, which is very silly.)

Excellent production of an excellent book

this gripping and satirical tale takes hold the reader from both the realms of humor and intrigue, and the voice work sells the rest.

fantastic writing, read fantastically

The reader was great, and the footnote portions were enjoyable too. One of Pratchett’s best stories

Great listen

I love all things Pratchett, and this book is no exception. It's a very funny and scathing satire of the British banking system at the time it was written.

Unfortunately, I am not as enthusiastic about this narrator's performance, which was merely adequate. The original version, read by Stephen Briggs, was, in my opinion, much better.

Stephen Briggs' narration is better
