Publisher's Summary

There’s no room at the Inn....

Sprightly Victorian spinster Vanessa Latimer is stranded for the holidays in the Scottish Highlands by a relentless winter blizzard. She takes refuge at a centuries-old inn where the only available room is haunted by the ghost of a warrior who fell at Culloden Moor.

One who refuses to give up his side of the bed.

Johnathan de Lohr awakens to find a siren bathing in the chamber of sorrows that keeps his restless spirit imprisoned. Though he’s the ghost, John knows that the captivating woman will be the one to haunt him.

Unless they can figure out a way to set his tormented soul free.

Please note: This novella is also connected to the Victorian Rebels Series

Another magical story by Byrne!

I absolutely loved this novella! I often find it hard to connect to characters in novellas, or to find their story believable and engrossing when there is so little time for the author to build a back story and connection, and then resolve whatever conflict arises. I should have known if anyone could pull me in, make me fall in love, and wrap me up in all the amazing HEA feels in under 3 hours, it would be Kerrigan Byrne.

Somehow she writes a story about a woman falling in love with a ghost and makes it just as believable, amazing, and fulfilling as her full length historicals. The narration is also amazing, which I was not expecting because I am a die-hard fan of all things Perkins and was initially upset this was not narrated by him. ALL IS FORGIVEN. What an amazing duet narration!!!

I don't want to say too much about the story itself but the ending was EVERYTHING, and I just loved it so much. Another slam dunk!

Captivating, Delightful & Wonderful Narration

Loved this novella!! It was a wonderful story, beautifully written and the narration was sensational! I am a huge fan of Kerrigan Byrne and this novella did not disappoint. I enjoyed this book from the first word to the last. The entire feel of the story was charming and I found it to be a perfect listen for these winter months. I am a big fan of Derek Perkins who narrated her Victorian Rebels series and many more, but I must say that listening to this duet was an absolute treat!! Shane East has a voice that is simply yummy. Stella Hunter did a wonderful job as well... but Shane was just fantastic. His voice is warm and velvety. I wish there were a lot more historical romances read by him. I am always looking forward to Kerrigan's new releases and I hope to hear more duets in future, hopefully with Shane, fingers crossed.

Delightful story!

This is my first book by Kerrigan Byrne, but I'm a big fan of Shane East and Stella Hunter (especially in duet)! I found this story to be a delightful, interesting, sweet, and sexy with excellent performances by Shane and Stella! This is a short story, but there is a lot packed in there without feeling rushed at all. Based on this book I would definitely listen to more content by this Author. I look forward to more in the future!

Loved this story!

I am a huge fan of Shane East and his narration. I discovered his wonderful British voice when I listened to “A Guy Walks Into My Bar” by Lauren Blakely.

This book was brought up often in his official fan group “Shaneiaks”. The phrase “Ghost D**k” was used often so it caught my interest. It was just released on November 17th, 2020. It’s a duet narration between West and Hunter which I have grown to love.

West narrates Johnathan de Lohr who’s a ghost from the past, the century he lived in was before Culloden. Hunter narrates Vanessa Latimer, a spinster who’s on her way to Inverness to photograph Loch Ness. When her carriage has a broken wheel, she has no choice but to walk until she finds refuge in a centuries old inn. The inn where Johnathan’s ghost is at.

While this book is set in the past, there’s a lot of the present in it. I haven’t read much historical romances before, other than the Outlander series, and I can’t wait to read more. Byrne wrote a wonderful novella for her Victorian Rebels Series. I will definitely be going back to read more of her work.

Fun Ghostly Christmas Story

This was a fun little paranormal historical Christmas romance. Sweet and sexy with a bit of ghostly mystery. The dual narration was stellar and made for a highly enjoyable short listen.

I love ghost story romances!

This was a great novella for the Christmas holidays! A hot ghost, a hot guy and an independent girl. What more could you ask for?
I am used to listening to Derek Perkins narrate Kerrigan’s books, but Stella and Shane did a great job.

Such a satisfying listen for so small a package…

It is no secret that I’m a SERIOUSLY big fan of Kerrigan Byrne and her historical romances. I’ve even questioned my loyalty at times, worrying that I’m wearing rose coloured glasses. But, no, it seems that it doesn’t matter what she writes, it just works for me. For example … The Earl of Christmas Past. See, I’m not normally a huge fan of ghostly romances. I mean, how the heck can I be satisfied, when one in the couple, is untouchable? Well, fellow readers, Kerrigan Byrne has all the answers and I was left very, very satisfied.

This is a really short listen that was surprisingly satisfying. Maybe, surprisingly is a bit harsh a term. It’s just that a couple of hours of listening doesn’t normally give me enough storyline to engage with the characters to believe in their HEA. In this case, the storyline flowed beautifully, the characters were developed enough to ‘get’ them, and their connection, while impulsive, worked well.

Honestly, if you’ve never tried an audiobook and you’re a fan of historical romances, this would be a fantastic introduction. For starters, it’s done with dual narration which means you don’t have to listen to a male narrator ‘do’ a female or vice versa. Secondly, we are treated to one of the best male narrators in romance, Shane East. Holy Shamoly! That bloke has a very sexy English accent, and I could listen to him for hours and hours and hours. Stella Hunter is no slouch and brings her characters to life and is extremely easy to listen to.

Honestly, I can't tell you how Vanessa (I'm guessing she's the connection) is connected to the Victorian Rebels Series or for that matter, the Goode Girls. But, that's a good thing for readers/listeners who have not experienced either of those series'. I'm about to revisit Sir Carlton Morley and Prudence Goode (A Dark and Stormy Knight, #7 Victorian Rebels / Seducing a Stranger, #1 Goode Girls), so hopefully, that will jog my memory. 😉

If you’re a fan of historical romances with a touch of paranormal and looking for a Christmas treat to get into the spirit of the holidays, I highly recommend giving The Earl of Christmas Past a try.

timeless love

I very much enjoyed this sweet Christmas story of timeless love, with bit of naughty heat. As expected with these seasoned voice actors, the narration was beyond excellent, full of emotion and amazing accents.

Ghost lovestory - sweet and dirty

On the whole: I loved it. Were there some things I would want to be better, yes- and it definitely has something so do with the lenght of it. It could have been longer and especially the end was… without spoiling, it just went quite quick.

But if you want (need) a sweet romantic romance with a steamy sex scene, then its a good listen.

A wonderful Christmas story - highly recommended!

That was an amazing story! I am only sad that it was so short as I wanted it to go on and on! Thank you for making me feel so warm inside and to continue to believe in fairy stories!

This is the first book I have listened to by this author as the narrator was highly recommended! I will definitely be listening to more!

I really liked this one! Kerrigan knows how to define imagery and setting. The characters Vanessa Latimer and Johnathan de Lohr were great. I liked the journey they took together, but of course I only wished it was longer! I'm glad it was a bit different for a ghost story. At the end I do love the Christmas tone though. I really love this cover too!

The narration by: Stella Hunter, Shane East were spectacular in that they were absolutely perfect for their characters. I loved the Duet Narration as well. This is my first listen by Stella, and I love her voice! Stella and Shane both did really well on the Scottish accents.
