Best work yet

Definetly the best book bruce had put out so far and as someone who has read the next two installments it just keeps getting better.

Great book

Really great book, love the story, the magic the only thing that would make it better is if the mc calmed down with his comments. Some are funny but some I feel are just over the top and take away from the story, kinda makes you wanna drop it sometimes.

VA reading

I can not emphasize the amount of love for the VA's performance in this reading, Simple as that.

unexpected gem

I bought this book on a whim. I love the characters and the banter that takes place even though it can get a little old after awhile.
I like the overall storyline but I just wish that the progression slowed a bit. I feel like the main character development is coming to easy and going to fast.

spend the credit, it's worth it.

Great Start to the Series

Having read all of the series through Kings Fall and listened through Drums of War, this is my favorite book in an outstanding series! It is both well written and well voiced. I highly recommend it!

Liked it more than I expected.

I wasn’t expecting much from this book, it was one of the suggestions from Audible.
I really liked the characters, and once I got used to the male voice narrator sounding like Patton Oswald and being loud in some parts then hard to hear with some of his characters. It was really enjoyable.
I saw some people saying Ard cries a lot, it was like twice and in my opinion justified given the situation. So don’t listen to that negativity.
I was hoping for more of the adult content but honestly the story was so good that I really didn’t think about it.

All in all, it’s a good story.

Could have been a really great story of the main character wasn't such an unbearable prick.

The author went way overboard on the whole "witty banter" character trait. The setting was great, the magic system was great, the women were awesome and had their own character. Even the MC's backstory was solid, he just couldn't keep his damn mouth shut and most of his "wit" was asinine.

I wish Ard wasn't such a whinny wuss

I read the first 2 novels and I love Bruce Sentar but after listening to the amazing voice actors do their best...... And still comes off as a whinny snot that just isn't tough enough to question bandits

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️I hope there are more books to come in this series! The MC is great along with a really good supporting cast! The story is captivating! The narrators also do a good job of bringing the story to life! Great job Bruce Sentar!
