The story is absolutely awesome....but

I will admit that I'm a biased listener for this series. I live in Atlanta and I'm the unicorn: A Native. I was so impressed that the Gordons (Ilona Andrews) were very accurate in their descriptions of the city and the surrounds. They either researched like crazy, lived here or got info from a long time resident. It's a great urban fantasy series. Well structured, entertaining and emotionally satisfying. However...the audio book isn't doing it for me- primarily because the delivery and the voices done by Ms Raudman are just not....right. Almost every Southerner voiced by Ms. Raudman sounds like something out of a bad 1950's movie idea of a fake Southern accent and it becomes a bit insulting after a while.. Has she ever spoken with someone from Georgia?? I mean seriously - as mentioned, I was raised around these people and NO ONE sounds like these people she is voicing - not even out in the country. Also - someone needs to get with her on the local pronunciations. "Ponce De Leon Ave" is not pronounced by the locals like it would be in proper Spanish. Down here it's "Ponce-Deee-Leee-an". And if you try to say it like the Spanish, most locals will snicker at you or give you a blank stare for a few seconds while they try to process what you mean. There are a couple of additional examples that I won't bore you with - but it's jarring and more than a little annoying when you know that it could have been done right. Ms. Raudman is a talented reader - don't get me wrong - but for this one - she just isn't a good fit.

Great First Book

A fun intro to Kate and Curran. Lots of action read by a very good voice.

Great story but narrator made some mistakes

I enjoyed the narrator's voice but she made some really glaring mistakes that took me out of the story in some parts. good thing I already read this on paperback otherwise, I wouldn't have continued.

Not bad.

Overall it's pretty good but the author seems to lack weapon knowledge and the narrator doesn't pronounce some of the words correctly. By biggest complaint is that the narrator attempts several male voices and accents and they just sound strange and I'm pretty lenient on narrators.

it is a bit short but it is a good novel. I enjoyed it. cheers
