One of my most recent favorites !!

The first book I have read by David Hair and it was wonderful from start to finish!

You follow the story of multiple characters but it does not seem to busy or confusing for the reader/listener and the character development is excellent.

One of my favorite things about books like this is guessing how all the different people and groups are going to meet each other and trying to guess how and when each story is intertwined or directly related.

Great read for all fantasy lovers, highly recommend!

Better than GoT and WoT combined

If you like a long saga that builds and builds, with great character development, intricate twisted plots and explosive action then this series is for you.

There are characters to love and those to hate and those you just want to clip over the back of their heads and tell them "stop being such and idiot!".

The first book lays the ground work and it really picks up in the latter part. The second one just keeps the action going with lots of threads. You're always hard pressed to second guess what's going to happen next and surprises abound.

Well worth the listen. I'm hanging out for the 3rd book in the series. One top five listens in my library.

glad i took a chance

this series was sitting in my wishlist for a while. i kept putting it off and listening to other books. I was pleasantly surprised at the similiar writing styles between him and peter v brett. Both writers have a way of easing you into their world, making you feel like a stranger until you get to know someone. Looking forward to more books from this series.

A little bit of wining, but otherwise, very good.

Overall good book, very good narrator performance, some characters were a bit "soft." I would listen to it again, and just got book two.

The reader has excellent voices and accents but I found his narration timbre and style unappealing.....a great story and great character acting by narrator make it superb though and I look forward to the rest of series....mature enough to have nuance adult listeners will appreciate and entertaining enough to please younger listeners even if they miss the subtleties

Too much focus on sex.

Main characters are just focused on getting laid. Characters are flimsy with exception of the king. Kept hoping the story would pick up until the very end.

great suspense and beautifully complex

loved the narration. written in a complex fantasy world in which the heart is pulled in a multitude of directions. love the incorporation of a variety of faiths and vantage points.

A large amount of characters and places to keep up with. It took a while to grasp everything that was going on.
