Good book. Ann Rule is such an excellent author. However, the woman narrating the story should learn how to pronounce all the words she is reading. Evidence, proof, macabre are just a few that stuck out. Not hard words. Mispronunciation is an assault on the ears.

Poor narrating

I am a huge Ann Rule fan, and I found this book to be just ok for her. Compare to true crime books generally it is good. It is heavier on the gory scenes and lighter on the investigative detail and personality analysis that makes most of her writing so great.

Just ok for Ann Rule

Interesting all the way through. I like true crime that gives details and insight without a focus on the gore. I want the facts but I don't want it to glamorize the sick killers. Ann Rule does a great job telling us a story with the facts in it but more focused on the why and to whom.
I really liked the Narrator of this book as well. Clear and read well.

good true crime

The narrator mispronounced alot of words. Otherwise a realky enjoyable good book. If you like these kinds of stories, you'll like it.

Like listening to a popular tv crime show - gruesome details draw you in as an unintended witness! Well done narration.

Perfectly Gruesome

Well written and kept my interest, but the narrator drove me crazy. Part of the time it was like she was speaking in 1.25 speed and sounded robotic and a lot of mispronunciation of common words (especially in the last hour of the book) and this totally detracted from the story.

A true story of a serial killer

My only qualm is that narrators aren't given pronunciations for important regional landmarks. In the PNW, everyone knows "it's WillAMette, dammit!"

Grotesque twists and turns!

For some reason in the last hour or so of the story the narrator was not able to pronounce several common words. Strange

Narrator was not very good in the last hour of the book. Could not pronounce words correctly.

Ann Rule knew how to tell a horrendous story with real depth and respect for the victims. Bring a strong stomach to this gut churning tale of truly disgusting perversion, narcissism and sadism. In the hall of shame that includes all of the worst creatures that have walked this earth, Brudos is a standout for his complete lack of compassion and humanity. What a total piece of sh*t. Words fail me. Read it if you must. I wish I hadn’t. He died of cancer in prison, whining for himself to the end. There, I’ve saved you some trauma.
