A cybernetic mercenary sets her sights on the corporation that forced her transformation in this dystopian sci-fi from the author of Victor of Tucson.

Juliet Bianchi has evolved from a lowly scrap cutter to a fully-loaded, combat-ready dark side operator. Known as "Lucky," she takes high-risk jobs for high-tech upgrades (you know, like weaponry, super reflexes, mind reading, etc.) that make her nearly invulnerable. Nearly.

Juliet is looking forward to some downtime to recover, recoup, and reunite with her mates from the space salvage trawler Kowashi. But after a while, she gets that old itch she can never quite seem to scratch: to infiltrate, and hopefully subvert, the all-powerful WBD megacorporation that created the AI that changed her life—and find out just what the hell she might be becoming.

To do that, Juliet must assemble a team of expert covert mercs to get her inside WBD's formidable defenses. And to do that, she'll need the help of the last person she'd ever trust: Tanaka—the man who delivered a brutal beating she almost didn't survive back on Titan. No one ever said being a hyper-advanced, cyber-enhanced master spy/thief/warrior was going to be easy . . .

The fifth volume of the hit cyberpunk series—with more than a million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Another great story from this series. I absolutely cannot wait until the next book comes out. I really really really like what I call the “extra” story after the climax has peaked.

Amazing character depth

I have been on one side of the fence and the other side over this protagonist. Yes - by now you know I’m talkin’ bout Juliet aka January, aka Lucky and the previous alias when she was working CORPSEC. Anyway she has grated on my last nerve more times than I can count and then in the next chapter or actually 2-3 chapters later I’m ready to give her a first bump. Other times not so much the bump. But before you go all RT on me, she does have all kinds of bionic parts and she’s pretty close to the bionic woman. Hmmm…. I wonder if the author former or currently known as Plum was a fan of the Bionic Woman. Wouldn’t that be something if this whole series was attributed to Lindsay Wagner AKA “The Bionic Woman”. One major difference is I’m pretty sure the BW and the BM jokes up at some point. I mean come on guys. Tell me if you’re a bionic person - be it man or woman and you have a smoking hot or handsome bionic counterpart, are you not gonna wonder? Of course you are unless you’re just weird.
Anyway I almost turned this book off during her meeting with Mr. Miyagi. Her arrogance and self-righteousness made me want to virtually vomit. All that stuff about telling Mr. Miyagi’s right hand left a sour taste in my ear-mouth that is still lingering. Yeah that whole exchange was brutal. I’m not one to skip past parts I don’t like, I listen through them like a good soldier, but that entire meeting created the living hell out of me.

But then Jules redeemed herself, and I continued listening. I mean honestly at this point, if I’m not a committed….something..fan? Yeah I guess that’s it. In a fan of Plum Parrot and while I haven’t launched into any intelligence gathering, I’m fairly certain that’s a one name or she’s got parents from the 60’s. Either way Plum does know how to weave quite the story and build quite the characters in spite of how they may grate on my nerves. I know this review is probably classified as “rambling” but I would encourage you to read/listen to this entire series. The characters evolve and progress and digress at times. In all honestly it’s a helluva story and I have absolutely no regrets about being 5 books into this series and knowing I’m going to need to buy another batch of credits to finish this story. I have no idea how it will end, I hope author Plum Good will give us a remarkable ending, and some who I’m already hoping there’s more. Just in case you were wondering that “Plum Good” should be plumb Good” if I’m being proper and all but person Parrot - whatever and whoever you are- you are able to create a book series where the MC doth try mine last nerve, but I keep coming back for punishment but mostly it’s just aural pleasure, which to achieve in an audiobook does seem pretty damn challenging if not flat out hard.
So but the book. But then all in fact and get ready for an interesting ride.

I also appreciate that there’s not rampant sex scenes every other chapter. It that I e read a military type sci-fi book that did have that, but I suppose they are out there, I just try to avoid them. I have enough distractions as it is.

Plum Parrot - keep up the good work. You - whoever you are, are appreciated for your absolutely wonderful talent.
The narrator a Suzy - forgive me if I e misspelled her name - is nothing short of amazing. Hell now that I’m thinking about it I. Not sure if I love the books or just love the narrators voice!

It’s both. Trust me. (Or not).

I finally bumped the story to 5 but I argued with all 12 of my selves for 15 minutes.

I've been waiting on this book for a few months. I enjoy listening to this series for my once monthly 8 hour commute, Im about halfway through and it reads a bit like a cozy slice of life for our girl Juliette. There are still fights and tension and drama. But, she gets to relax some breathe a little, and get some fun new toys.

I absolutely love this series. It is one of the happy thoughts in my life, all the plot hooks left dangling from past books are fun to ponder how they might come to fruition. I love this book and am looking forward to Lucky and Angel's next rampage. Keep it up Plum.

I loved the story. I can’t believe how fast Plumb Parrot can write solid story after solid story. Great characters too

Parrot continues to advance her MC through a series of unique struggles both minor and major. I love her exciting action scenes along with her exposition transitions and character's ai accompanied introspection. the story is always engaging. the narrator brings the mc to life though I am not 100% pleased with voices of some minor characters.
