It was twenty-two years ago when Launz and Nye met at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Trenton, New Jersey. Both students, Launz played college football and gigged as a guitarist on the side while Nye was promoted from kitchen cleaner to a waitress. All due to Nye's clever prowess, it took no time at all for a passionate affair to ignite. Then, as quickly as it all began, it all ended when Nye up and disappeared.

Launz went on to become an accomplished football coach in both Division I college programs as well as the League. He'd just landed the coveted role as the head coach for the Connecticut Kings when Nye breezed back into his world. The position has come with great challenges, thanks to Launz's predecessors. He must rebuild a team separated by scandal and betrayal.

Nye has been gone, fighting demons in secret. Though she's done well for herself as an attorney, her absence has been the most painful period of the life she's had to endure—that or trying to explain to Launz the hell she's been through.

Twenty-two years is a long time. Or is it?

Contains mature themes.

I absolutely loved this storyline. Great writing and development of characters. There were so many deep complexities of the characters that I kept wanting to know more about them. Funny and Spicy 🌶️ The only negative was the disgusting habit that the MFC had! Ugh! 😣 Every time it was mentioned I was annoyed! Could have done without that. All of that being said, Love Belvin is one of my favorites. Thoroughly enjoying the Connecticut Kings series. Both narrators did their thing to bring the book to life! I would highly recommend!

The Narrators really brought this story to life! They Alyx Monroe revealed the vulnerability in Nye's character and Midnite Micheal made me love and respect Launz so much more. He was such a great father! He was in 10 toes down the moment he found out about his son. And Zo was a great son. It was beautiful to read/listen.

Coach Launz for the win!!!

This story has real potential what’s currently irking me is that it seems they’re avoiding the hard conversations. Nye and Launz; Zo and Nye. Nye is currently living with Launz and they have yet to have conversation why she kept Zo from him. Nye is also aggravating me because she’s galavanting all around this man’s house like it’s 20 yrs ago and there hasn’t been a whole 2 decades and a child between them. Why is she so comfortable in this strangers space? Especially when this man believes she’s manipulative which I can agree with. I’m ready for them to have the tough conversations. They’re literally P-footing around doing laundry, she’s sleeping in the man’s bed and cooking. The 1st half of this story is running stale for me quickly. In my opinion a good portion of the present thus far has been unnecessary or maybe I’m just impatient.

The story definitely for better towards the end I was a little happier with how it turned out. I will say I felt like it took us longer than necessary to get to the part that we were all waiting for. Some of those moments could have been spent digging into Launz past as well. Also I would’ve like to have heard the conversation between Nye and Zo because he didn’t react how I thought he would. I would’ve expected him to be happier than he was. I will definitely give Nye her props she seemed to have raised an amazing young man despite all of the trauma she endured. Overall I’m happy the book turned out the way it did and I’m going to give it a good rating because I enjoyed the read it just really pissed me off half way through lol.

How wonderful of a mother Nye was despite her upbringing.

It wasn’t a good distinction between characters. It made it confusing in the story. Although the story was great, I think the voices for the characters didn’t match.

Narration flop
