Publisher's Summary

USA Today best-selling author Claudia Burgoa presents a heartwarming, sexy romance about second chances and starting over.

After a week off the grid, I finally get reception and the first voicemail I hear stuns me.
“You’re summoned to Baker’s Creek by the late William Tower Aldridge.”

Twelve Years.
It’s been twelve years since the last time I heard from the Aldridge family.
That one voicemail changes everything - I need the money the late William offers.
In exchange, I have to live eighteen months in Baker’s Creek.
I’ve survived cancer, the jungle, and the plague.
This should be easy compared to all that, right?
Or so I think until...I see him.
Confident, charismatic, bitter, sexy as hell, Doctor Hayes Benjamin Aldrige.
My first love, my first kiss - my late husband’s brother.
He hates me.
He still hasn’t forgiven me for walking out on him, and I can’t blame him. It’s been over ten years, and I still have feelings for him.
But I faked it once and I can fake it twice.
I can survive eighteen months and that’ll be the last time I see the Aldridge brothers.

Isn’t it?

The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers series is a romantic comedy saga packed with the perfect mix of angst, tears, and laughs. If you like strong heroines & alpha males, steamy romances and witty love stories, this series is for you!

Second Chances

This is the first book of the Aldridge brothers series. Hayes and Blair had first loves. Then he left for med school meaning he was leaving her. Things ended badly between them. Having to be in the same dwelling complicates the plans. They have a chance to make things better if they can get over the anger. I have read the book previously but wanted it brought to life in audio .
Stella and Connor did an amazing job of conveying the emotions of Blair and Hayes.

Promising new series!

Great start to a new series. I am very much forward to the next ones - hopefully theyll be available soon. This story has many new characters to introduce us to, but despite that the writer has somehow managed to make the story fluent and easy to follow to - and also easy to remember everyones names. Overall a good story of forgiveness and second chances and complicates family dynamics.

The writing and story could have used more...

I have been wanting to read something by Claudia Burgoa for quite a while, and finally picked this book - it was narrated by Connor Crais, so I used my last Audible credit. I have many of the “freebie” ebooks by her that I’ve picked up, but I liked the summary of this one, and I really love these narrators.

It was OK (not sure, but I think it’s a bit more 3.5 stars overall)- I’ll definitely have to try a few more of her books to get familiar with her writing style and storylines.

I usually like the second chance trope - but how this one plays out is why I need some more time to sit on it. He literally breaks up with “the love of his life” when he leaves for medical school and gets pissed off and never speaks to her again when she marries his little brother as a marriage of convenience (to be his medical proxy)... and then when the whole family is brought together again when their dad dies, with her standing in for their late brother, he immediately expects after 12 years of radio silence to just pick up where they left off... because it’s what he suddenly decides is how it should, with no thought to her feelings. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Yes, there’s quite a bit of filler in there, and with 6 brothers there’s those relationships too, but on the romance side, it felt a little like hat needed some more reality.

When an author writes something that is either so unrealistic or so a$$-hole ish like this main character was, I just find it very hard to get around or very hard to accept the storyline, especially if the female main character does go along with it... Hello - this guy is treating you like dirt and just expecting you to go along with what he decides is the way it's going to be, after ignoring you completely for 12 years?! NO! That's not how things (should) work, and no one, woman or man (or non-gender identifying), should be treated that way!

(It's not Alpha, it's not endearing, it's not a strong character - it's just off-putting as a reader because he's a major jerk and it shows that she is a pushover or has no backbone. Unattractive on both sides.)

Love a good new series....

This is the beginning of a new series by Claudia Burgoa and it's the first one of the series. It's the start of another fantastic family series. I loved meeting all the brothers and the ladies.
Hayes is a nerdy hot doctor who loves science. He hopes to gain a second chance at love with his first love Blaire. Blaire is a do gooder (I know there is a different word for it I just can't think of it) is the best as I can describe her. She travels to far off places to care for others.
Blaire, Hayes, and his brothers are put into a situation that seems hard to accomplish at but but maybe they can just pull it off.
To find out what this situation is check out the newest addition to Claudia Burgoa's library of books.

I have read and now listened to this book and loved hearing it brought it to live for me can not wait to hear the rest of the series.

Entertaining

Book one in an exciting new series from Claudia Burgoa and she is off to a solid start. Loved You Once is a second change at love story that was was an emotional roller coaster of a read that held my attention from the first to the last chapter. This is Doctor Hayes Benjamin Aldridge and Blaire Wilson.

Both Hayes and Blaire are haunted by the past, the big question is will they have the courage to take a chance on love and in doing so get the happily ever after they deserve? Connor Crais and Stella Hunter did a good job bringing the story to life for me with their entertaining performances. Their voices were easy to listen to and I found myself listening well into the night.

We all have regrets, it’s how we learn from them and move forward with life and what it deals you that can change the course of a person’s life. Hayes knows he is going to have to work to prove that he has changed and in doing that change his future.

This is a story of self discovery, of facing ones past and moving forward into the future, if you dare to take a leap of faith. The characters were entertaining and the story was well written. Angsty at times and heart warming it made me laugh and made me cry.

There was romance, some humour and the camaraderie and banter between the Aldridge brothers added to my enjoyment.

Hayes and Blaire a second chance at love

This is the first book in the Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers series and it is the start of something special. I had the opportunity to read this but the narrators elevate this work to another level. Years ago, Hayes and Blaire fell in love but they were young and Hayes left to attend medical school leaving Blaire devastated. As the years passed, Blaire moved on with her life and wound-up marrying Hayes’s brother in an unconventional arrangement. Now a doctor, Hayes is summoned back to his hometown as the bequest of his deceased father where he, along with his brothers, will have to spend the next eighteen months cohabitating to get his inheritance. While he is back home, Hayes is on a mission to make Blaire his again. Will she succumb to his charms? Connor Crais’ voice is smooth like butter and will melt your heart as he brings Hayes to life. Stella Hunter is the perfect compliment as she crafts Blaire with a spunky and endearing tone that keeps one listening. The two together do a wonderful job of articulation and conveying the characters’ emotions. I look forward to listening to the rest of this series!

Sweet and emotional story.

I recently had the chance to listen to Loved You Once by Claudia Burgoa and I loved it. Narrated by Connor Crais and Stella Hunter, this is the first book in a new series, The Baker’s Creek Billionaire Brothers. The series is about six estranged brothers and having to come together. Up first, we have Blaire and Hayes and they have a lot of history together and are not exactly happy to see each other again. But is there more between them than either will admit? Hayes’ father has died and all the brothers and Blaire are forced to come together. Blaire was once hurt by Hayes, but he is ready to right his wrongs. Can Blaire forgive him? Loved You Once by Claudia Burgoa was emotional, heartbreaking and heartwarming.

Happy listening!

A timid but compelling start of a series

As the first book of a series of interconnected standalone with the same premise–half-brothers are forced to cohabit for 18 months in order to get their inheritance–it contains a lot of informations about the various characters and the general background. That, plus some flashbacks, made it hard to follow at times. I admit I felt confused more than once. But that also makes for an intense world building, even inside a contemporary romance.

I loved Blaire and Hayes, and their story–why they ended things, what happened with Hayes’s brother, etc.–was original and interesting, but I didn’t get it. Why did they stay away from each other for so long? How can feelings still exist after that many years? How can they then let things progress so fast? Though I rooted for them because they obviously loved each other when they were younger, I thought the romance part was the weakest of the story.

The main interest of this book is really meeting the Aldridge brothers and discovering the dynamics between them–those who get along, those who hate each other guts, those who avoid all the others. And so much change in that regard between the beginning and the end of the story! I really really enjoyed that aspect of the book.

As for the narration, it was quite good. Both narrators may be a little too subdued for my taste–I love lively recordings–and thus the intensity of some scenes gets a little lost. But their voices are quite pleasant. A timid but compelling start of a series.

Blaire and Hayes!

There is no denying the professional success that Hayes has enjoyed as a surgeon, but his personal life is another matter. When he finds out that the father he has distanced himself from has passed way he and his five other brothers are called home where he finds out the dire plan his father has for the town. It not only requires they he and his brother must reside in the family estate but the same is also required of the only woman he has ever loved who is also his brother’s widow.

Blaire is a woman with a huge heart who has endured so much in her life. She has loved and lost and now puts all her energy in ensuring the well being of others. She and Hayes were college sweethearts until he broke her heart when he left to pursue his career without her so will abide by the terms of the will but she isn’t about to let him into her heart or her life for a second time.

Hayes is determined to show Blaire that ending their relationship was the biggest mistake of his life and all he wants is a second chance to show her that she can trust him and along the way he may find the family he never had. The performance of the narrators not only had you in invested in Blaire and Hayes but all the secondary characters as well.
