Publisher's Summary

My name is Mabel, the girl who “wouldn’t hurt a fly".

Of course I wouldn’t.

I’m an entomologist for goodness’ sake. I work in a nature center. Bugs are my jam.

It’s the humans in my life who are starting to get me down. I’m used to them calling me sweet and innocent. I can even handle them calling me naive. But when they lie and keep secrets from me? That's when my proverbial pincers want to come out.

Trouble is, I'm not the girl who fights back.

Not until a handsome groundskeeper with a dirty mouth and secrets of his own shows up and lights all sorts of fires in me.

In the bug world, the female is always the fiercest. The praying mantis doesn’t worry about being a “good girl". Nope, she follows her instincts no matter how crass or crude they may seem to others.

Turns out I could learn a thing or two from her.

I’m not necessarily looking to tear anyone’s head off, but after decades of being nice, it's high time for me to return to nature and unleash my wild side.

I didn't think it was possible to enjoy Lovebug more than I enjoyed Flirtasaurus but I totally did! I was so excited to hear Mabel's story and it was better than I could have hoped for. This book had a ton of funny scenes but it also had a great story line and characters growth. My favorite thing was probably hearing Mabel become confident and strong throughout this book. Mabel was so naive in the beginning and her interactions with Wally were hilarious. Wally was so grumpy in the beginning but once Mabel caught his eye he was so fun & the way he teases her was awesome. Mabel & Wally are so much fun and their love story was sweet and so perfect. I wish I could comment on all my favorite scenes, especially ALL the funny scenes that had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt but I would have to write a book ;) I will be listening to this again when it releases so I can enjoy all the funny scenes with my friends. All of the characters in this book have many levels and the side characters really were great additions to the story. Erin is truly great at writing a story with real issues and struggles but she makes the journey so much fun too.
Lovebug is also narrated by Erin which in my opinion makes it even that much better because she knows these characters so well. It was PERFECT ALL AROUND!!!!

*Warning: I am a little biased about this book because Cyndi is named after me!!! I had no idea until I started listening that Erin used my name and created a fun loving best friend name Cyndi. The *Backstage Pass* at the end of the audiobook made me cry happy tears! Erin has been my favorite female narrator for years but now she is becoming one of my favorite authors too. Thank you Erin for being so amazing!!! Lovebug will ALWAYS be special to me!!!

Cannot debug this!

Erin Mallon just writes to make me feel good. At least that’s what I tell myself. This story of Mabel the Entomologist and Wally the groundskeeper is just a well written and narrated tale of love, bugs and finding your own voice amid a pyramid scheme.

I have found the Natural History series to be quite good so far and Lovebug is currently my fave. How I love Wally’s desire to be an eco-responsible human. And how I adore Mabel’s love for bugs.

I honestly don’t know what else to say. For me, this book is just the right amount of fun, love and quirkiness that I think romance needs. I loved it.

Lovebug

It has taken me a few days to get my thoughts together after getting this wonderful book early.
Erin’s voice shines through in her writing, I loved it. Just as much as I loved the first book.
Mabel and Wally are fun and funny. I had a preconceived notion of who I thought Mabel was from book 1 but I was so wrong she is so much more.
I like that she knows herself even when she isn’t always confident in her choices she figures it out. Her love of all things bugs is pretty freaking great. I truly believe she grows the most in this book because she learns that she is a pretty cool lady and people will accept her for herself if given the chance.
Wally is AWESOME! I like that he just liked Mabel for who she is. Wally is probably my favorite character Erin has written so far.
Again the narration is phenomenal as always.

What a funny, wild and entertaining romcom

Erin Mallon, the narrator, is amazingly talented at bringing so many different romantic tropes and characters to life. Erin Mallon, the author, has an amazing sense of humor that is truly unique, sometimes wildly subversion, but always wildly entertaining.

Mabel and Wally are quite the pair. Without giving too much away, Mabel, our female lead, is leading a life that is full of secrets and twists and turns, but she doesn't know about that at all! She thinks she leads a totally ordinary, totally normal life with little drama, little change to routine, and little controversy. Suffice it to say, it all comes out in this book, and the rollercoaster ride that our dear Mabel is on is such a trip!

I loved every minute of this listen. Expertly narrated, wonderfully witty and humorous, this was such a great ride.

Why Did It Have to End!?

When I first met Mabel, I knew she was a character that I would never forget. I knew when we got her story it would be an unforgettable one. Love isn’t even a strong enough word for what I feel for this story. Erin Mallon had me crying delightful tears because this story was absolutely ridiculously hilarious. Mabel was... well to be honest she is pretty indescribable. Meeting her in the first book and reading her story I lived for seeing her finally come into her own, speak her mind and made sure people recognized how unforgettable she truly is. Oh and Erin Mallon narrating? I mean does it really get any better. Her narration is good I don’t even miss the guy’s POV like legit don’t even need it because then it’ll mean less Erin and who wants that??

I really tried...characters are awful!

I listened to this (based on the the favorable reviews which I now think are sketch) for over three hours. The main character is a total moron and the dialect is unrealistic. I was cringing most of the time I was listening. DNF.

Glorious, glorious fun!

Erin Mallon is so bloody talented! She writes, she narrates, she friends and she mother's...I'm sure there's even more to add to that list! Lovebug is an unalloyed joy from start to finish, filled with wonderful, off the wall, humour, fabulous characters and lots of very useful bug information, though the only things I 'usefully' remember are lovebug mating practices and to never watch tear moths on the TV!
With her zesty charm and confident, fluent narration, Erin has been, as always, a complete delight to listen to. Thank you Erin for bringing joy into this challenging world. I love you for it ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

Super fun Rom-Com

LLovebug is a very cute Romantic Comedy written and narrated by one of my favorites, the insanely talented Erin Mallon! This is the story of a young entomologist figuring out her life. It’s a beautiful connection of Women’s Fiction and Romance with a lovable hero who can be both grumpy and funny, and a wonderful all-around HEA. I had a ton of fun listening to this audiobook!

Captivating and funny

I read the paperback, and it was such a joy that after I finished, I listened to the audiobook. I needed to hear Erin perform some of these scenes.

You know how sometimes you read a book, and it is exactly what you need? This is that book for me. I eagerly turned every page and read late into the night. Mabel is the sweetest person ever, and it was so brilliant to see her grow. Wally, man, I thought I was in for a grumpy, sexy guy that was going to push my buttons and annoy me—in a, I need more of this way, lol. Instead, I got the swooniest guy ever, and I was here for it! He’s going on my top book boyfriends list for sure.

Erin’s writing is captivating and funny—I’m talking laugh out loud hilarious—but it is also heartfelt. There were some underlying things happening or discussed that really had me high-fiving, nodding, and shedding a tear or two. As is often the case with Erin’s writing, it is multi-layered, and at times, you can find yourself thinking, did she go there? And then, with a big smile on your face, say, yep, she did, and I love it! She’s not afraid to have a throwaway line that carries so much weight. It just leaves the reader or listener with a sense of amazement.

As a non-bug lover, I wasn’t sure how I was going to do with this book, but I was surprised that not only was I not creeped out (mostly—there were a couple of moments there), but the info on bugs was really interesting in the way it was presented and part of the story. It blended really well with the character and her quirks.

This book hits quite a few tropes. But not in the sense that it’s a huge part of the story but in that something happens, and you sit there and think, oooh, that could fall into this trope or that.

So, I thought I loved Wally as much as I possibly could, but then I heard Wally with Erin's male voice, and I'll tell you, that love grew. All the swoons. Erin as always delivered a cracking performance. It made the funny moments funnier and the heartfelt emotional moment more. It was a joy to listen to.

This is a must read/ listen.

Erin Mallon... CAN WRITE! Hilariously!!

Wally. Just. Wally.
And Mabel Again!!!!

This story shows the progression of Erin Mallon not only as a storyteller, but as a novelist. Writing romance novels is quite different from plays and narrating, which she has already perfected, but her romance writing is getting awesome, too! While I loved Flirtasaurus, it worked better as an audiobook than a novel, and this one works equally in both ways! I was swept up in the story of the shy, awkward Mabel Again, who wants to assert herself, but never annoy. She is so quirky, and strange, yet I felt so many of her things, though I hope I lack some of her naivety.
Enter Wall. The Wall. Maybe Wallace, or Wally. But only when Mabel says it. You better not try. The stoic guy who craves solitude and achieves it by being the rough guy who never speaks. But suddenly he is met with a perky, cheery Mabel who just wants to make a friend. The banter, the hilarity just leaps off the page. Their flirting is endearing and makes you laugh out loud (thankfully the trees on my walk didn't look at me weird when I burst out once or twice), and when it gets deeper and emotional, you just root for them so much.

Of course, fabulously narrated by Erin Mallon herself, I mean, who knows better to act out the characters than the one who wrote them? With her signature amazing guy voice and a sweetness that brought out Mabel so well, I loved every minute of it. Read it, listen to it, whatever you do, just make sure you meet Mabel and Wally. Wallace. Sorry. Won't happen again.
