I like many of Archer's books. this one had me zoning out though. I was expecting more, and the end was too abrupt. it's not bad...it is just only adequate

Hard Time

"i was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review" . i always like the narrators Kiki uses but i have a hard time with every story of her's that i read. i tried her out because everyone talks about how great the stories are but i just have a hard time staying focused during her stories. i dont know what it is about them but they dont hold my attention and i have to go back many times to actually finish them.

Funny British Romcom

Honey Diamond is a very protected superstar and a bit naive. Her mother was completely overbearing and drama filled, which fit perfectly into the story. Kiki Archer did a great job of character development.

Meg has quite a backstory and her and Honey go through so many twists and turns. Someone famous and a "nobody" means paparazzi and attention and Kiki did a great job showing what it could be like.

The Ikea scene was one where I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes!

I loved Svetty! She was hilarious! Her and Liza were great in their interactions.

This is the first audiobook by Kiki Archer I've listened to. She picked a fantastic narrator! Highly recommended.

Hilarious secondary characters supported by MCs!

“Lost In The Starlight” is an entertaining and enjoyable romance between two very different women. Narrator Ella Lynch did a terrific job; she really helped keep my interest during a few slow & repetitious points in the story.

28yo MC Honey Diamond is internationally successful as an actress and singer, but has managed to stay completely naive about the bubble in which she lives. Oh, and despite her being the very definition of a Mary Sue, she was also extremely likable!

28yo MC Meg is a journalist who anonymously runs a celebrity gossip/news site “Celeb Secrets”. She’s convinced/hopeful that her idol Honey Diamond is a closeted lesbian, and makes it her mission to force Honey out of the closet. So yeah, I’m not a fan of anyone making that choice for anyone but themselves, so Meg isn’t as likable. Much of her behavior/actions stems from her deep insecurities, and we indulge LOTS of inner thinking and she becomes more of a sympathetic characters as she becomes a better person throughout the book. Meg doesn’t date much, saying people don’t get her; neither does her unpleasant roommate Jo. Jo doesn’t have many redeeming qualities and frequently drinks too much and behaves badly.

Much of the story involves instalove and instalust between Honey and Meg, and I enjoyed their dates to Ikea and other places where Honey’s fame results in pretty funny situations. But perhaps the best part of the book is the small group of secondary characters from Honey’s life: controlling mother Diana; lesbian PA Liza and Diana’s russian masseuse Sveti, and her cousin Cunti; 70somethings Dot and Gertie (they remind me of the two old guys in the restaurant in the terrific movie “Today’s Special”…what characters!; even Honey’s chauffeur and hair, makeup and clothing staff provide some hilarious moments. Even Jo’s boyfriend Gavin is such an over-the-top ass he’s entertaining!

I could have done with less time inside Meg’s head as she thought through who she is and how she wants to be a better person, and I suspect on a Kindle I’d’ve skipped through some of that and probably questioned Meg’s ultimate transformation. The instalust that Honey has for Meg was a bit surprising, but it created several fun moments. When I just think of this as a comedy written for our enjoyment, not a realistic view into the lives of all these people, it works.

I rate the narration for “Lost In The Starlight” 5*, the wacky side characters 5*, the silly times Honey and Meg are trying to get to know each other 4*, the believability of their instalove 3*, the amount of inner thinking from Meg 2.5*, and overall…hmmm… 4.4*

I highly recommend “Lost In The Starlight” if you’re looking for a light, entertaining low-angst romance.

I smiled the entire time I was listening to this

I really enjoyed listening to this! Ella Lynch did an amazing job with the narration and Kiki Archer always writes a fantastic story. I think I was literally smiling the entire I was listening to this. It was marvelous!

Sometimes we have NO CLUE... just ASSumptions!

Listening to Meg and Honey's twisting and turning story was fun and painful. I hadn't really thought about how much mega-stars, celebs, etc are sheltered from, manhandled and have to endure to APPEAR effortlessly pampered and happy. Everyone has to decide... IS IT WORTH IT?

Lost in the Starlight has been an enlightening ride and a delightful story about just how much we really do not know about each other, what experiences have shaped us and what drives the things we do & say. It takes a lot of effort to find the truth.

Loved it

I’m a huge fan of Miss Archer, so this came as no surprise, this is a great great book, easy to read or listen, it’s funny but clever.

Light Romcom with good narration flow

I came to this audiobook lookoing for something light and fun and it did not disappoint. The cover was lovely and set the scene in my mind for a little bit of uplifting romantic glitter and and my expectations were fully met.

Our special couple have quite a quaint mix of background. Honey is a naive and privileged A-list superstar from a power celebrity family, molded and manipulated by her dominating mother, Meg is a somewhat dull and disillusioned journalist who has lost her mojo and life direction. As attraction sparks they both come to life and find a mutually satisfying connections (via quite a few comical misadeventures)

Overally, a very stylish read with a coherent build which was easy to relax into and flow with, There was a little more introsepction in this book than I generally prefer but the excellent narration by Ella Lynch carried me through those sections. Many anecdotes (including the hilarious Ikea story) were appropriately over the top funny and I really enjoyed the dizzy side characters including Svetty and Kuntse who ensure there is never a boring status quo .

There is a lot to enjoy about this book for fans of this genre.

Happy lesbian romance

In the interests of fairness I would like to mention I received a complimentary copy of this book. Here is my voluntary review:

Celebrity drama isn't my usual go to category for Lesbian fiction (however it is a guilty pleasure of mine!), I'm glad I gave this light and fun story a chance! At first this book was hard for me to get into, but I found myself wanting to know what happens. The Ikea scene is what turned it around for me and made me really love the characters. This scene was also really funny, I actually laughed out loud! There is also quite a collection of unique supporting characters, of whom even the most eccentric eventually won me over. I can honestly say I wasn't ready for the story to end! I'm looking forward to see what else this author has to offer.

The narrator also did a good job with character voices and voice tone. She did really well conveying the light and fun tone of the story with her voice.
