"Christine Lakin's reading is terrific. Her narration is wonderfully deadpan...and her characterization is pure ear candy. Lakin grants each character complexity and humanity..." — BookPage (Starred Review)

Rippling with humor, warmth, and style, Lost Lambs is a new vision of the charms and pitfalls of family dysfunction.

The Flynn family is coming undone. Catherine and Bud's open marriage has reached its breaking point as their daughters spiral in their own chaotic orbits: Abigail, the eldest, is dating a man in his twenties nicknamed War Crime Wes; Louise, the middle child, maintains a secret correspondence with an online terrorist; the brilliant youngest, Harper, is being sent to wilderness reform camp due to her insistence that someone—or something—is monitoring the town’s citizens.

Casting a shadow across their lives, and their small coastal town, is Paul Alabaster, a billionaire shipping magnate. Rumors of corruption circulate, but no one dares dig too deep. No one except Harper, whose obsession with a mysterious shipping container sends the family hurtling into a criminal conspiracy—one that may just bring them closer together.

Irreverent and addictive, pinging between the voices of the Flynn family and those of the panorama of characters around them, Madeline Cash’s Lost Lambs is a debut novel of quick-witted observation and surprising tenderness. With it, Cash has crafted a family saga for the twenty-first century, all held together with crazy glue.

“I can’t remember the last time a novel made me laugh so hard or feel so much tenderness for its characters.” —Leslie Jamison, author of Splinters

“Madeline Cash is a voice like no other.” —Lena Dunham

“I’ve read entire books that contain less wit and inventiveness than a single one of Cash’s sentences.” —Eric Puchner, New York Times-bestselling author of Dream State

“With a big surge of energy, Lost Lambs splits the nucleus of the American family.” —Tony Tulathimutte, author of Rejection

Unique and excellent character building and plot. Thought provoking on topics of religion, family dynamics, and relationships. Surprisingly the novel ends quite warmly for a book who maintains a melancholy tone the majority of the time. I felt it was very relatable about life's ups and downs while also having an interesting twist.

Thought provoking

Love the quirky, Flynn family, Harper is by far my favorite. Love everything wraps up, everyone comes together and are happy for each other, one big dysfunctional family

Dysfunctional family fun

Laugh-out-loud funny at times. Everyone in the Flynn family is in chaos after their parents decide to have an open marriage.
There is a mystery and corruption surrounding the town's billionaire, who is on a quest to stay young. And the side characters are all a little quirky.

Witty dysfunctional family- la dramady

The characters were not very likable. I guess that made them funnier. She knows how to write humor!

Weird but very funny.

I so loved this author’s wit and funny humor. I laughed out loud so many times. I could have just had the story be about the 3 sisters ,The sisters antics and the father’s one liners stole the book show ! I think some of the heavier stuff didn’t need to be in the book . The father’s deprived boss ,that party ,the trafficking, the blood drinking wasn’t needed ,it was unnecessary and I think hurt the storytelling of this family . There was enough material and storytelling to be told without all the other stuff so hopefully the author will remember maybe next time less is more when it comes to the storyline The author’s amazing wit and humor sold this book for me I gave it a 4 stars because I loved Harper ,Louise ,Abagail and the dad so much. I think Harper and Louise could have carried the whole book ,those girls were the best characters ever ! . I loved the first half so much I would have given it 5 stars if it stayed focused on them but the last half when it got into that whole party stuff just was too much. So 4 stars and I’ll definitely be looking out for this author in the future . Good witty book with laugh out loud characters, worth your reading time !

I will definitely be trying this author again !
