For fans of Daisy Jones and the Six and In Five Years—a powerful and transportive new novel about a music executive desperately trying to bring a rock band back from the brink, from bestselling author Ashley Winstead.
The best love stories are the ones you don’t expect.
When record executive Theo meets the Future Saints, they’re bombing at a dive bar in their hometown. Since the tragic death of their manager, the band has been in a downward spiral and Theo has been dispatched to coax a new—and successful—album out of them, or else let them go.
Immediately, Theo is struck by Hannah, the group’s impetuous lead singer, who’s gone off script by debuting a whole new sound, replacing their California pop with gut-wrenching rock. When this new music goes viral, striking an unexpected chord with fans, Theo puts his career on the line to give the Saints one last shot at success with a new tour, new record, and new start.
But Hannah’s grief has larger consequences for the group, and her increasingly destructive antics become a distraction as she and her sister Ginny—her lifelong partner in crime—undermine Theo at every turn. Hannah isn’t ready to move on or prepared for the fame she’s been chasing, and the weight of her problems jeopardize the band, her growing closeness with Theo, and, worst of all, her relationship with her sister—all while the world watches closely. The Future Saints’s big break is here—if only they can survive it.
A novel about sisterhood, friendship, and the ghosts that haunt us, The Future Saints is “a mesmerizing look at grief, love, and the music industry that's so raw and emotional, you’ll want to play it on repeat” (Laura Hankin, author of One-Star Romance).

Y'all. I don't read a ton of non-romance books. And this book... wow. Thank you so much to Atria for the advanced copy!
This is a beautiful story of heartbreak, brokenness, connection, and how having meaningful relationships with people who genuinely care about you can change your life. Theo meets The Future Saints at their rock bottom. Their manager passed away and the band fell apart, no one more than lead singer/guitarist Hannah. Hannah's grieving the loss of her sister, and Kenny and Ripper are processing their grief in their own way. But when their label sends Theo into their depths, they reject his help and haze him, and uniting the band against him... works. They find their footing. And, all along, Hannah continues to drown in her grief.
This story is special because it shows us at multiple levels how the band members each move through the world as individuals, as a unit, in their industry, in the media, with fans, and in relation to the human experience. When life becomes a spectacle, and the characters have to ponder their own actions and what is driving them. When a stranger says something to them, and a character has to acknowledge that they know nothing about you and that their experience is just that... their own experience, one single perspective from one single person who has their single knowledge about you and the world. The complexities and the simplicities in this story have woven together a beautiful story of truths and heartbreak. All the while, Hannah grieves, and Theo holds her hand through it all (or he gives her the best hug I've ever personally experienced in all of fictional history *sobs*).
I initially picked up my physical book to read, but after rave reviews, I also downloaded the audiobook and oh. my. god. that was the best decision I could've made. This has a full cast of narrators - Ali Andre Ali, Brittany Pressley, Vikas Adam, Tyla Collier. It's incredible. This story relies so heavily on the emotion and inner workings of the band, the inside feelings that only people who know you intimately can read vs outside feelings that you let the world see, demand, consume. This audiobook brings this story to absolute life, and it'll be one I remember for a long time.
