Publisher's Summary

Where family bonds are made and broken, and where young love sparks as old flames grow dim, Ransom Canyon is ready to welcome - and shelter - those who need it.

With a career and a relationship in ruins, Jubilee Hamilton is left reeling from a fast fall to the bottom. The run-down Texas farm she's inherited is a far cry from the second chance she hoped for, but it and the abrasive foreman she's forced to hire are all she's got.

Every time Charley Collins has let a woman get close, he's been burned. So Lone Heart ranch and the contrary woman who owns it are merely a means to an end, until Jubilee tempts him to take another risk - to stop resisting the attraction drawing them together despite all his hard-learned logic.

Desperation is all young Thatcher Jones knows. And when he finds himself mixed up in a murder investigation, his only protection is the shelter of a man and woman who - just like him - need someone to trust.

Awesome!

The book is awesome. I loved Little T. That kid was my favorite character! Boy had a hard life and yet, he was still good, still funny and he was just trying to survive and in their own way, others looked out for him.

A Mild Mystery or a Bland Romance

Writing series must be a challenge. If I never hear the word boneless again to describe how an embrace or kiss makes a person feel, it will be too soon. The plot of this book is carefully crafted to never go too far below the scary or spice line (unfortunately). Thomas still keeps me curious, however, so I will keep reading. The narrator can only do one voice convincingly: Thatcher. Fnd a narrator who can do all kinds of voices without becoming oversentimental. emotionless or stereotyped, please! The story of Lauren and Lucas seems superfluous, but I suppose that book is coming. Everything in Texas appears to be solvable with a gun or love. It's a poor bandaid to bridge the writing of obvious stark beauty, rugged landscape and culture. I wish the author would consider putting as much creativity into the writing of emotion as she does for the landscape. I'm still waiting for a real story of mature love. There's a lot of potential with Sheriff Brigman. The cynicism of disowned wealthy 26 year olds is nothing compared to that of a man left to raise his daughter to womanhood on a modest salary. I enjoyed Staten and Quinn's story in the earlier Ransom Canyon, but the thorns of that story were too easily plucked by a fairytale of the rich, landed knight riding to overcome years of hurt. How about health problems from multiple gun wounds, college tuition to pay off and fighting real issues like opioid addiction? Can love blossom in such true soil? Ultimately Jodi Thomas creates an interesting patchwork of characters that warm the heart, if not satisfy intellectual curiosity.

good book

Spanish accent was more Irish. But otherwise read well. Story was a little long but enjoyable. More of a life boom than a romance.

Passion Without Porn

An excellent wordsmith, Jodi Thomas doesn't have to use words that burn the soul to create her powerful stories. She remains one of my favorites. PG13 this latest in the Ransom Canyon Series is fast pace and intriguing. I see a new character emerging to a hero in a future book, Hatcher.
