Loved it!

This was my first read by Donna and I’m hooked! I couldn’t put it down!

First book makes you want more

I definitely liked the book since the first page, however i find piper a bit annoying sometimes, she’s too stubborn. She’s a bit of a mess but she’s trying to find a way for her and her little brother to survive. Not a bad start

Excellent start to this series!

From the very beginning of this book I was pulled in and couldn't put it down! I have read other books by this author and I enjoy her writing and the story definitely did not let me down. I cannot wait to read/listen to the second book in the series. I believe there are either three or four books in the series so hopefully I'll be able to read them fairly quickly because I don't always love books that end with cliffhangers, and that's basically how this one ended. I love the characters, I love the concept of ebook and I feel the narrator did an excellent job with the book. Now I'm on to book number two!

So entertaining!

Lots of twists that were enjoyable. Interesting unusual turn on the end of the world.

Won't Continue the Series

📖 Piper started out as a strong female character, but she digressed quickly beoming the antithesis of likable. By chapter 19 she morphed into the type of heroine readers despise: stubborn and purposely making bad choices to "prove herself" and choosing to do the opposite of what's asked of her then feeling sorry for herself when someone is injured trying to help/save her. She also likes to have self-pity-parties thinking other people's decisions are because of her (like Pipper thinking Widow Herbert's heart attack was her fault). Give it up, girl. You are not the center of the universe. Widow Herbert was 90 years old and chose to go on the journey. Her heart attack was organic. Piper whines about feeling like a weak useless human, when in actuality her blatant stubborness is slowing down the journey. Ugh.


🎧 The narrator leaves a lot to be desired. Perhaps that contributes to the dialike of Pipper. She has a pleasant voice, but she reads sentences without punctuation making the story difficult to follow.

Original apocalypse story line, which is refreshing. But the plot isn’t original, I won’t be buying the second book.
