Publisher's summary

Life can be awkward when you're a child genius. For Louisa Ward, that came in the form of meeting her one true love at age twelve--TJ Taggart. But being a year younger and a full year ahead of him in school always made things weird. Working in the CIA has made her into a strong and capable woman. Until she sees TJ. Fifteen years later, she still gets butterflies every time she sees the gorgeous soldier, but she's tired of waiting.

TJ could always see exactly where he wanted to go in life. But joining the Army would require a sacrifice. Since meeting Louisa, TJ knew she was the woman he wanted to spend his life with. But he couldn't ask her to live that life with him. There would be a chance to sweep her off her feet when his time in this dangerous life was done.

On a top-secret mission, TJ's unit is ambushed. As he waits to die, all he can think of is the time he wasted and how badly he wants to be with Lou. He's shocked when his sweet, quiet girl shows up leading a CIA special ops squad to bust him out. Back in Dallas, it's time to claim the woman of his dreams. He has a plan to win her over, until the adversary who almost killed him returns to finish the job.

Contains mature themes.

And things just get crazier......

4.5 Stars 🌟

I'm not even sure what to say anymore. I LOVE this series. We are on the second generation of this wacky "Found Family" of crazy spies and are now dealing with the next generation of "adult" kids. They are just as crazy bonkers as the first gen crew. But luckily for us - we are already in love with every single one of them - so their absolutely crazy, neurotic, bats**t behavior just slides off our backs at this point.

This is seriously a series that I can not explain in a way that would make ANY amount of sense to any one else who is not on this crazy ride with me. I'm not even sure if someone just dropping in to this book as a stand alone would even like this book - when those of us who have been along for EACH of the previous 28 books just are THRILLED the second we see a new entry .......definitely not able to explain the feeling.

About the book - we are deep into another large over arching drama that has a few sub plots between the CIA, MI6, the Australian and the Canadian..... - but we are FINALLY going to find out what the heck is going on with the trio...and WHY the heck Tristan has been MIA for the last couple of years.

Are you confused? Yep, you should be. The kids (well, I guess they're not kids anymore)- Kala, Kenzie, Lou, Connor, TJ,......who am I missing? The ones that are giving Big Tag chest pains.... Well, let's just say that the trio has some 'splaining to do....... and I am extremely interested in what these answers are going to be.

At Last

As always, at the beginning, the submissive nature of the FMC pisses me off. I push through and the story becomes more and I fall in love it with my MT group all over again. I can’t believe there are so many kids from Dallas, London, Australia, Canada, and Loa Mali. The new recruits are going to make this a bumpy ride.

And as always I love Ian and his antics. One day he’ll learn not to just walk into public spaces without announcing himself. LOL!

This book was like coming home

Lexi Blake is one of my favorite authors and I’ve ready the whole MM series so this book was the emotional equivalent of going home for Christmas. I loved it! The family dynamics, the connection between the MCs and the story line were all excellent! I recommend this book so highly, even without experiencing the older books, but it’s best as a part of the whole wonderful work Lexi has created! ♥️♥️

A soundtrack played in my mind as I listened

Amazing. I laughed, I cried and I felt thoroughly entertained. Somehow a few songs kept playing on repeat in my head as I listened to Ryan West telling this story. 1. Richard Marx: Right Here Waiting. 2. Roxette: It Must Have Been Love. 3. Carly Simon: Nobody Does It Better.
Thank you, Lexi and Ryan. You keep me coming back for more.

Love the next generation of spies

It’s great to learn about all the kids that are very young adults. Many are following in their parents footsteps including a d/s club. We get a reunion of many of the parents in this storyline. What has Tristan done? Can’t wait for the next one. So glad Ryan West is narrating this new series, his sexy voice is my favorite male narrator.

The Next Generation!

I’m so excited for the New Recruits series, and this second one may have been more exciting than the first one!

Louise Ward, daughter of Boomer, has been in love with TJ Taggart since she was 12. He’s kept it as a platonic relationship, even though he feels the same way about her. He thinks he’s not intelligent enough and that she would be uncomfortable as an Army wife, being separated for years possibly. But when he’s kidnapped, Lou and the Taggart twins go to rescue him, with the rest of their team. Shenanigans commence. While there are spicy times, there’s also funny times and serious times. And a few filled with super action scenes.

If you read the original series, this will amuse you because Big Tag is in the background whining the whole time, along with some sweet Erin and Theo scenes. If you have not read the Masters and Mercenaries series, WHY?? Sorry, uh even if you have not read the first series, you can still read this series easily, because this is a whole new group of characters with some OG cameos! I most definitely recommend this!!
