Critic Reviews

"The production...smoothly weaves dramatic reading and Pierce's outstanding fantasy. Alvarado's even pacing perfectly matches the crisp tone of the book, which reads and feels like great historical fiction. Her performance will have listeners believing that Tortall really existed....A thoroughly enjoyable listening experience." (School Library Journal)

OK! Now what?

Well you have made it through this most excellent series, and you need to know what book to go get and read next. The answer is simple! Trickster's Choice followed by Tricksters Queen. Those two books are both set in this same Authorverse, and the same reader too.

Great finale

This is one of my favorite series and the final book does it all the justice it needs. I encourage anyone reading this series to continue on with other Tamora Pierce series afterwards.

A ending to a Legend

Alanna has been an amazing knight to follow, this final book fuses all 3 stories as a set up to an ending that is both terrifying sad, and perfect. My only problem is the voice acting is from the early 2000 and some of the racial voice changes army to appealing. I also read the books along with it, and didn't agree with how they presented the Bragir in general. other then that it was a great story. and wonderful ending.

Great narration for a great story

I could finally read the ending of a beloved childhood series, and it didn't disappoint. It's brilliantly read, with natural sentiment and enough changes between voices to distinguish clearly the characters. It made everything all the more exciting. As for the story itself, Alanna's path is a fantasy well woven. She does the job of being an epic heroine just fine, without discarding any that makes her who she is.
