Publisher's Summary

Imagine a drug that made your brain function to its full potential. A drug that allowed you pick up a foreign language in a single day. A drug that helped you process information so fast you could see patterns in the stock market. Just as his life is fading into mediocrity, Eddie Spinola comes across such a pill: MDT-48 - a sort of Viagra for the brain. But while its benefits materialise quickly, so do certain unwelcome side-effects. And when Eddie decides to track down other users, he soon discovers that they’re all dying, or already dead.

Terrific! Really well written and a great reader.

Thoroughly recommend this unusual and fascinating book. Never once lost interest and the reader was excellent. My first Alan Glynn. Read with the same pace and rhythm with which it was written. One of the best books of the year so far for me.
A touch of the Stephen King about the story without the weird and unbelievable stretches. I always had a belief that this could be possible and the story tied me to it until the last words. One of those rare books that was disappointing to finish.
Well worth a credit. Go ahead and get it, you won't be sorry.
Very well done.

Very good

What about Bryan Bounds’s performance did you like?

The narrator was extremely good. Really gave life to the story

Any additional comments?

I felt that the hero could have been more smarter in the book.

A great book!

It's a great audiobook but the ending was kind of boring since I exoected something more after the movie.

This was a great book, by far one of my favourites

Great book, much better than the film and managed to finish it in about 4 days, loved it and would 100% recommend it. It very much has a Lucy meets wolf of wall street feel to it. x

Thoughtful and engrossing

Having watched the film prior to reading this, I was pleasantly surprised by the major differences in the story. I was engrossed from the off and looked forward to the next listening. Would highly recommend and would encourage anyone who maybe thought the film was below par for the concept.

Film was better.

Being the source material for one of my favourite films, I had to give it a go. And even though the story is different and ends on a darker note compared to the film adaptation, overall it was okay. But not really worth listening again. The narration was lacking a lot. Unless it was Van Loon or Gennady, you couldn't distinguish who was who. Especially if you were doing something while listening to this in the background.

Almost

Very good story and character development however gets a little lost mid way through and ends on a nothing point. Which is a shame however the film does well to rectify this and improve the storyline in my opinion

Awesome awesome...

Great story, I have listened to it a number of times now and it's great every time, the film is pretty good as well. But I have just found out that the sequel is being released in Jan 19. Hanging out to listen to that one.
