Acerca de esta escucha
Are you ready to increase learning opportunities, reduce negative behaviors, and improve staff and student morale?
Then it's time to become a brain builder!
We all are aware of an alarming increase in reported behavioral disruptions in school settings. Often less understood is the critical role that the brain plays in shaping all behavior, including the challenges we face in our classrooms and beyond.
Light Up the Learning Brain illuminates the many ways that teaching through a brain-based lens can breathe new life into your work.
In this audio, you will discover:
- how the brain's two main "operating systems" interact - and often compete
- the amygdala's vital role as an alarm system and gatekeeper
- ways that brain function is closely connected to our senses
- the power of play, curiosity, and safety in fostering brain development
- tips, scripts, and tools to make your job easier and more fulfilling
Blending the latest neuroscience with practical application, this book will be your guide to wake up the creative, curious, problem-solving "upstairs" brain of staff and students.
Brains are dynamic and diverse, and so are the solutions presented in this accessible resource. Facts and insights are balanced with hands-on ideas that can be implemented immediately.
As educators, we have a timely opportunity to empower our students to build their own big, brave, beautiful, world-changing brains - and isn't that, after all, why we chose this profession?

Children who carry chronic behavioral challenges are often met with reactive and punitive practices that can potentially reactivate the developing stress response systems. This book deeply addresses the need for coregulatory and relational touch point practices, shifting student-focused behavior management protocols to adult regulated brain and body states which are brain aligned, preventive, and relational discipline protocols. This new lens for discipline benefits all students by reaching for sustainable behavioral changes through brain state awareness rather than compliance and obedience.

Phenomenal!
A fantastic book with a terrific narrator! I get nervous when I see "read by the author" but Sinarski's voice is melodious and soothing. This book is perfect for educators, but handy for any caregivers! As a parent, I learned so much about what's behind my kiddo's big behaviors. I even had some realizations about myself! Highly recommend.

Neuroscience based
I really enjoyed these practical ways to look at behavior challenges from a neuroscience aspect. It made so much sense to label moments of challenges as an upstairs or downstairs brain problem. I especially enjoyed learning how to attribute these moments to animals to help label and understand what our brains are going through.

Finally, something that actually helps my class!
I’m so thankful for this book! I’ve already listened to it twice! It has reformed the way we think about our minds in relation to how we function. If my first graders can process this anyone can! It truly has changed the overall way we understand each other!
