Publisher's Summary

The Arizona Vengeance is hockey’s hottest new team. But hockey’s hottest goalie is learning that even the best players sometimes need an assist.

“You don’t have to like sports to love these books!” (New York Times best-selling author Jill Shalvis)

Everything is clicking for the Vengeance. We may be new, but we’re well on our way to winning the championship, and I’m having the time of my life headlining the sports media as the hottest goalie - hell, player - ever. I, for one, am going to live up to my name...because I am Legend Bay.

Dragging my ass home from the gym, I’m blinded by some gaudy, glowing holiday lights. As usual, my hot-as-hell neighbor Pepper Nantais has gone way over the top. But just as I’m about to tell her off, something else catches my eye.... Seems like Santa left me a present and not one I was expecting.

As life takes an unexpected turn, I realize that there’s much more to Pepper than meets the eye. Sure, she’s gorgeous. And exasperating. And her taste in decorating may be a bit...unique.

But beneath her carefree demeanor is a fierce determination and a heart of gold. And before I know it I’ve fallen for her. Hard....

Pepper is exactly the woman I never knew I needed.

Advance praise for Legend

My favorite thus far

Oh wow...loved Legend and Peppers story...kept me engrossed the entire time. Only thing missing for me was Peppers interaction with Charlie. Seemed like Bennett didn’t develop their bond that well. Great narration!

Best part of this series

I loved this story of Legend Bay the star goalie and his neighbor Pepper. I love these too because they are so different but what a better story than a baby left on the doorstop. To see how Legend deals with a baby and having to rely on pepper. This is my favorite of this series. Joe Arden and Andi Arendt kept you interested in this story.

Legend is a great addition to the series!

I am absolutely LOVING Sawyer Bennett's Arizona Vengeance series, and, three books in, it is now definitely one of my favorite hockey romance series! I'm so happy I finally got to Legend's book. I listened to the audiobook, and I love Andi Arndt as Pepper! I thought she captured Pepper's voice well. Joe Arden as Legend was fantastic too! The audiobook was definitely well-casted, and both narrator's voice added to the story. We saw in the last book that Legend, the Arizona Vengeance's goalie, was highly annoyed with his new neighbor Pepper, children's book author and illustrator and lover of pink plastic flamingos and other crazy lawn ornaments, which exasperate Legend to no end. But, when Legend finds an abandoned baby on his doorstep, Pepper was there to help him out. Legend was this more straight and narrow guy while Pepper was a more carefree chick, which caused them to clash at first, but their relationship quickly took a turn to the hot and steamy side and their chemistry leaps off the page. All the while Legend was having to figure out how to take care of his baby girl and dealing with the baby's mother--a one-time hook-up. My favorite part of Legend, apart from the romance, was how Legend quickly took to being a dad and how he embraced his new role fully. It's so adorable how much he cared for his baby girl--I swooned! My only issue was how the Legend's baby mama was completely villainized in such an over-the-top way, especially because she was suffering from something very serious. I just felt sorry for her character, and I wish she'd been treated more sensitively. Overall, I think Legend was a great addition to the series! While it wasn't my favorite (Erik is still my #1 fave!), I very much enjoyed it. I can't wait to read Dax's book next! Also, I highly recommend this series be read via audiobook--each book has a different narrator for both the hero and heroine and they definitely add to the story. You really feel for the characters more because it's like they're speaking to you via audio and telling you their story--basically, the audiobooks are fantastic and I highly recommend!

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧 Heartfelt & Moving!

Sawyer Bennett pens another amazing “Arizona Vengeance” novel and I loved every word of it. She has a wonderful writing style, creates storylines that are interesting, likable, easy to relate to and captivating from start to end. I also adore the characters she creates, they are complex and well developed, there is so much more to each one of the hot hockey players on the team and it is great finding out more about them. This is book is Legend’s story, he is a goalie for the team and an all around likable guy. He and his neighbor Pepper are at odds because of her flamboyant decor she places around her home, some she does just to taunt him. Pepper is an author who works from home, she likes to make her yard bright and cheery for inspirational purposes, add bonus is it bothers her grumpy neighbor, Legend. Just before Christmas Legend arrives home to find an unexpected package waiting for him, he is shocked and runs to Pepper’s house for assistance. I thought it was great how she helped him with everything, the two were great together and for each other. There is never a dull moment in this book, there is plenty of drama, angst, some action packed thrilling & suspenseful moments that brought me to the edge of my seat and a buildup to a wonderful romance. Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another awesome story and emotional rollercoaster ride. Joe Arden and Andi Arndt are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They bring these characters to life, giving each their own unique voice and personality. They do a great job projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and always a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen🎧

May I have my Soul back?

Pepper Nantais, smart, humorous, beautiful….a thorn in her neighbor’s side. Never one to disappoint, she annoys him with her outrageous and annoying lawn decorations. The very definition of flamboyant! Amongst all of the chaos is an underlying attraction that will soon come to light. Legend Bay, Star goalie for the Arizona Vengeance and has a dislike for his neighbor who grates on his nerves. He comes home one night to find an unexpected “package” on his porch. The only thing he can think to do is run next door and get Pepper. She is ready to have their latest tete a tete, but, stops in her tracks when she sees the look on his face. Stunned and shaken, he has no idea that getting Pepper involved is both good and bad. The Good- I...Am...Speechless! Several books have brought out different emotions in me, but, Sawyer grabbed my soul and snatched that thing right out. This is going in my bank of Favorites! The Bad- The way Charlie was left on the porch is inexcusable. The Ugly- The Baby Mama Drama, was ugly. She was so far gone off the ledge and delusional. What she did was horrific. I don’t know where to begin with this, but, I was just in awe of this latest release by Sawyer Bennett. Legend and Pepper are a magnetic force so in sync and unbreakable. You could feel Pepper’s spirit of calm. She was level headed and it helped balance Legend’s crazy emotions. She is comforting, nourishing, and bold. She was a welcomed change to the typical damsel in most stories. I know this book is about a Legend, but, Pepper is my Hero in this read. Legend was thrust into a roll that he was not ready for. His need to know everything and be there for Charlie was so touching and admirable. Legend and Pepper are pure passion with souls that sought after each other. Mesmerizing and tantalizing in their heat driven love making, that left nothing to the imagination. This story is unforgiving when it grabs you from the beginning. Holding onto you as if it needs you to read the next words or it will not rest. It left me awestruck, needy, tearful, emotional, and vulnerable. This proves beyond a reasonable doubt why Sawyer Bennett is my favorite Author. Just when I thought I couldn’t love her work even more, she writes Legend and elongates my already stretched to the hilt emotions….Easily an EBR Must Read! 5 Stars

Legend Effin' Bay! Love him!!

This is a series I'm thoroughly enjoying. I wish I could devour it, but with time constraints, it's dragging out a bit. Which is fine by me. Legend Bay is an amazing player on the Arizona Vengeance hockey team. They're having a great year so far, and hopefully a Stanley Cup is in their future. When an unexpected event turns his life almost upside down, help from Pepper, his "neighbor from hell," is both surprising and needed. There's been an attraction between Legend and Pepper, but Legend believed his teammate Dax was dating her. Regardless of his attraction, that made her off limits. But when Dax reveals his true intentions, Legend and Pepper eventually get closer, a result of spending more and more time together. This story was full of feels, and I won't say Legend is my favorite, but without giving spoilers, it's a classic reason for swooning on a guy. It's about family, and not just your blood. Everyone knows the Arizona Vengeance is a family, as well as a team. These guys love each other, and would do anything for their brothers or those they love. Of course, there's lots of heat in this story. Duh! They're hot rich professional hockey players! Of course, Joe Arden makes this story, and I think he may be my favorite voice for hockey players. Andi Arndt is her usual amazing self, and they make a wonderful team telling Legend and Pepper's story. Now, onto Dax!

Legend

Keeping this real I didn’t think I would like the way this book started. It was a little abrupt. There was supposed to be this outstanding feud between Legend and Pepper but I didn’t really feel it. I felt the quick friendship and then romantic feelings sure but I didn’t really get the feud. I did like that the book didn’t follow the normal romance timeline you know the one you can pretty much predict what is going to happen next. It was organic and the way Legend is with his baby awe I melted. I liked that he was all in the moment he knew. I think it’s a double standard for men; the fact that he has to have is papers ready to prove he is the father but also has sole custody. People just assume women have the rights and that isn’t always the case as we saw in this book. PS. I also loved that some of this book takes place in my city! Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was way cool hearing and seeing in my minds eye where they were. (I used to work before covid at the arena) I enjoyed the narration, Joe is ok for me I am not really a fan of the way he ends a chapter or a sexy scene its breathy I don’t know I don’t dis like it to the point of not wanting to listen just thought I would give my opinion. Andi is great no complaints.

Pepper and Legend

I loved this book when I read it but hearing the fabulous Andi Arndt and Joe Arden narrate made this book so much better. This is a beautiful journey of undeniable and unconditional love of what father will do for his child. Add in a wonderfully charming romance between Pepper and Legend who prove opposites attract, and what two people can accomplish together. I loved this story. I will definitely listen to this book over and over.

4.5 Heart-Melting Stars!

This third book in the Arizona Vengeance series was all kinds of swoony, exhilarating, sexy fun! Legend and Pepper are opposites in every way. He is serious, needing rules and order, and Pepper is fun-loving, and free spirited. When something surprising happens to Legend, Pepper is there to help and support him without hesitation. They build a bond that neither saw coming. I really loved Legend and Pepper, they made a great team and their chemistry was smokin' hot! This story had some suspenseful plot twists that kept me totally engaged and guessing what would happen next. It also continues to follow the lives of several Vengeance teammates. We get to see how Bishop and Eric are doing after finding love. It also has some intriguing and heartbreaking scenes with Dax and Tacker, and I can't wait for their stories! I can't get enough of these sexy hockey players and the women who challenge and love them! Joe Arden, and Andi Arndt did an amazing job portraying both Legend and Pepper in all their strengths and vulnerabilities. Arden especially had me in tears and my heart racing during several emotional scenes with Legend. Together, these narrators brought this emotional, heartfelt, hot and sexy romance to life keeping me totally engaged from start to finish.

Loved the drama and suspense!

Among all the Arizona Vengeance books I've listened to so far, this one had me at the edge of my seat the most! I loved the drama and suspense brought on by Lida, and loved that it wasn't over the top! Legend and Pepper (love their names!) were perfect for each other. Yes, they started out as enemies, but then their relationship quickly evolved once Charlie came into the picture. It was awesome to see them both make space their lives for one other and for Charlie. Narrators Joe Arden and Andi Arndt were wonderful as Legend and Pepper. Their performance made the characters more relatable. Legend is a single dad, enemies-to-lovers contemporary sports romance written in dual first-person POV. It's a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating. I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Team Legend!

The Arizona Vengeance has a chemistry between it's players and this story shows just how strong it is. Each player has strengths and weaknesses, but they always have each other's back. Legend is the goalie, and in this case the puck slipped by ad he was blessed with a baby on his doorstep! But he has no experience with a baby. He enlists the help of his annoying neighbor Pepper, who is more than helpful. And he realizes, she isn't nearly as annoying as he thought! Pepper has always been attracted to Legend, and liked getting under his skin with her quirkiness. Now with Charlie, these two find out there is chemistry between them. Will it last past the initial shock of becoming a father? Does Pepper want to be in the limelight of a hockey player's news? There are obstacles for these two to overcome, and a twist that adds excitement and suspense to this fun loving, warm hearted installment. You can't help but fall in love with this couple. Add the team players that come out to help like Dax and Tacker and we find ourselves feeling like part of the team. Not only does Sawyer Bennett score a goal with this single dad romance, but her narration team is incredible. Andi Arndt and Joe Arden always give their performances all the feels, the humor and heart tugs that we have come to love. Each one finds their person's voice and let's us fall in love.

I just loved it

I’m loving this series following the newly franchised hockey team Arizona Vengeance, and after book 2, Erik, I knew I was going to be in for a few surprises with Pepper and Legend. From their first meeting their relationship was tumultuous, a little bit of hate from Legend, and a little bit of love from Pepper. Legend has never hidden his disdain over Pepper’s flamboyant yard decor, even going as far as complaining to the home owners association, but when Legend gets a surprise package on his doorstep, Pepper turns out to be one person he can count on to help him. Wonderful writing (dual POV), a lovely story, featuring some emotional scenes dealing with some very real issues. Admittedly this story features a very extreme case, leaving me, the reader, gripping the edge of my seat, I think I nearly broke my kindle during a few scenes. Not too much hockey, but definitely lots of hot hockey players, past and future, and of course a few steamy scenes in the mix. I can’t wait to see what Sawyer gives us next. Audible is possibly the best way to read this book, Joe Arden and Andi Arndt bring this story to life perfectly. I just loved it.

It was okay

THE STORY: At first, I wasn't sure why I felt like this story couldn't get more than 3 stars from me but now I know. I'm a lover of character-driven books, meaning the road the characters take to become a couple is what I'm most interested in. This book is very plot-driven due to the surprise baby and baby mama drama and that's completely fine. But this is exactly the reason why I didn't feel the chemistry between Legend and Pepper. Also, a lot of personal stuff happens off-page (tell and no show). For example, they talked about certain stuff the night before and would just recount things, same with when Legend met Pepper's parents, or when Pepper met the girls Brooke and Blue at the game,.... Even though these scenes may seem small and unnecessary, they are things I would have loved to experience with them; that's what makes me connect to the characters. On a more positive note though, I loved seeing Legend take on to the parenting-role and I loved all the support Pepper gave him! THE NARRATION: Joe Arden and Andi Arndt! The perfect duo, I love them together and I love them on their own. Their narration was perfect, as always! ;)

Another Great Hockey Story

Loved it... Especially the fact that the Female Character has had to deal with being Childless Not By Choice #cnbc which is close to my own life story... yes there IS a baby on the story but she is not the female characters baby. And the way the male character dealt with her inability to have children was excellent. Obviously that is not the crux of the story so it's not a spoiler... Great story and I cannot wait for Dax's story nor Tackers story!!! just a few months to wait (and hopefully both will be on Audible too!!!!)
