Great Introductory Course to French

Firstly, I loved this complete course. Paul Noble's teaching method is VERY similar to Michele Thomas (for those of you familiar with his teachings) and very effective in the same way - It's essentially "listen & repeat" throughout the entire course, but also comes with a very useful PDF download that I would suggest adding to your space repetition method, ie: Anki deck to help remember what you've learned.

I started learning French using Pimsleur, which was effective in the same way, but I found it very boring and couldn't continue. This course really came in where that left off and I found no problem following the chapters without getting bored.

A few of the reviews are giving this a bad rating because of the similarities to the Michele Thomas courses, which is ridiculous. If anything, they should give a great review because of that!

Well-paced and thorough

Just 30 minutes every day in my car was a great way to get comfortable with the beginnings of the French language. I’m excited to go to the next level!

Works incredible well!

I love languages. I started learning English when I was 15, Spanish when I was 25 and now that I entered my 30’s I decided I wanted to learn French. This is the first time I’m using a non-traditional method and it is fastest I’ve started creating longer sentences without much effort. The words just come more naturally. Even though I took my time with this audio - 6 months, as I was combining it with other forms of studies - I was really surprised to realize in the final review chapters that I still remembered over 90% of the things I learned.
The other thing is, I looove grammar, this is a big part of how I learned English and Spanish: by focusing on grammar, but it takes much longer. This method is fun and easy, and I love the tips Paul gives and parallels he draws. You learn to speak before having an in-depth understanding of grammar rules.
I’m definitely gonna use my next credit on the follow-up, “Next Steps in French”.

This is a really fun and engaging course!

What a great intro to French! Within minutes he has you speaking in sentences but reminds us to not worry about memorization because he will keep coming back to important concepts and vocabulary. The final few chapters review everything covered in the first 30 or so chapters, and I was really pleased at how comfortable and familiar it all had become. I did start each lesson by re-doing the final lesson from the previous day and then going forward one or two lessons. Each lesson was about 20 minutes (a few minutes longer with the use of the pause button), so I devoted 60-90 minutes on the days I studied. The accompanying PDF is a good review, as is the kindle book with the same title (well worth the purchase). Now I’m really looking forward to Paul Noble Next Steps and Paul Noble Conversation!
