Are You Ready to Raise a Ruckus?

You're probably good at your job, maybe even great. But secretly, do you yearn to fly higher? To challenge the rules and surprise us with something remarkable? To instigate delight, connection, and real change? To choose better over safer?

Business and cultural visionary Seth Godin has transformed the terrain of marketing and commerce more than once. But many of his readers remain stuck in their own work lives. So what's keeping us back? "The problem isn't a lack of knowledge or skill," he's realized. "The problem is fear." With Leap First, Seth Godin is here to help. This immersive audio program invites us to learn with him personally, unrehearsed and in the moment, as he shines a light for us, not with answers but with questions on the road to:

  • Overcoming our instinctual resistance to risk and change
  • Discovering our creative genius in the face of the empty page or whiteboard
  • Finding the courage to share that work - with vulnerability, generosity, and results

Recorded in an intimate gathering of aspiring entrepreneurs, writers, and leaders, Leap First teaches us 49 essential principles, practices, and life lessons that have helped Seth the most in his own work and life. More than an audiobook or keynote speech, each track here presents a carefully chosen catalyst intended to trigger our own passion and insight with each listening.

"It always feels too soon to leap. But you have to. Because that's the moment between you and remarkable. I hope this helps you return to that edge. And then, to leap."

Great content but audio needs to improve

Any additional comments?

Seth is great but his content deserves better production work. I have 3 audio books from Seth with subpar audio quality. I know Seth himself don't really care about audio quality as he mentioned in his speech but it does make a difference. With proper loudness normalization and equalization, they can sound a lot clearer especially when you listen while walking on the street or driving.

I typically love Seth Godin but not this time

I have a ton of Seth's books and love them all but this one wasn't good. Its really hard to hear and understand what he's saying. Maybe its just the format, but it didn't work for me. I'd recommend many of his other books, but not this one.

Pithy & practical

This is a book for people who want to make a difference but are sitting on their hands. It a good kick in the pants. It is honest about what the opportunity is for us, the reasons we avoid shipping and what we can do about it. I listened to it four times in a row and then I went to work on a long shelved project. Thanks Seth!

Second time is even better

Readings Godin's books a second time around and deciding to ship this review as a contribution to the "network". Thanks Seth Godin for your contribution to our understanding of the mechanics the survival instinct as a deterrent of our capabilities to innovate and deliver work that matters.

Love Seth!

Sometimes I think he reads my mind!

It's so important to understand the idea of art. This has been my perspective for 25 years. It's nice to have that idea validated.

Get rid of the music

Love love love this book, and hearing it from the author makes it that much better. However, the music in between each section is a nuisance. I like to listen to audio books at work and the music is so loud compared to Seth’s voice that I’m constantly having to turn the volume up and down.

Compelled to make a habit of creating without fear

Seth points out our habit of fear in response to the natural call to create. He reminds us of cultural processes put in place that supports factory readiness, which is a call to conformity and recitation. We miss so much joy in life by fearing to respond to a craft in a personal way. And we cheat the world.6
