A Step Up

I received this product in exchange for my honest review. I've heard of Six Sigma before and the belt system they use, but not much else. This definitely helped me understand the finer points of lean management, and its a great supplement to the other audiobooks about lean. I'm a bit of a boring person and enjoy learning in a more textbook format. So it is important to know this audiobook is very structured.

A great book for beginners!

What made the experience of listening to Lean Six Sigma QuickStart Guide the most enjoyable?

The soothing and slow paced voice of Lucy Vest was the highlight. The clean and understandable speech made it very easier o follow and understand the concept!

What other book might you compare Lean Six Sigma QuickStart Guide to and why?

This was my first book on the topic so I have nothing to compare it with, but Lucy Vest voice really captured my attention which I feel somewhat missing in other audiobooks I have heard.

What does Lucy Vest bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She made the otherwise dry topic so interesting!

Any additional comments?

It is a very well structured audiobook for beginners like me that would expose them to the new approach. The pdf version with charts and table was really helpful to understand and follow parts which otherwise would have been hard.

A nice concise into into Lean Six Sigma!

This is a very short primer into the idea of Lean Six Sigma, which is why I started here for the combined topic.

I have also read individual books on the topics, which went into greater detail on the respective disciplines of Lean and Six Sigma. I think that this book focused more independently on the two topics and didn't do a great job joining them together. But, it is pretty involved subject matter to expect anything in depth, especially given the limited size of the book. so, I give it high praise for doing well to summarize the two topics, irrespective of the other.

For a great book on Lean, read (or listen to) The Machine That Changed The World. It does an excellent job. Make sure to get the latest version, as it has some important updates, which will bring you up to nearly current date. However, this book is not a how to, it mainly covers what Lean is, where it came from, and how it compares to mass production. It is an actual scientific research project that was released as a book and written in plain English. If you have the time, I 100% reccomend it.

The topic of Six Sigma is less theoretical and more based on scientifically proven analysis and problem solving skills, that are statistical statistical in nature. So, in order to get a decent understanding of this topic, I'll probably need to spend weeks or months. Even if you have no pressing need to learn this topic, learning it will change your life. I know a HS dropout, who now has his green belt and is now more analytical than most engineers or CEOs I've met.

Good summary

This version was fine but it had some technical info that seemed like class material and not a quick start.

Solid Beginner's Guide

Lean Six Sigma QuickStart Guide is another good starter guide from ClydeBank Business. This provides excellent guidance for those aiming to manage an organization by providing an above-average business management model. The narration -- Lucy Vest --, as usual, was spot on and the references to the pdf files were always appreciated as they illuminated the content being listened to. Recommended!

Must have quick introduction to Lean Six Sigma

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I was interested in this audio book because my employer has recently implemented some of the lean strategies explained in this book. I was curious to find out what was at the core of this model for management and this book helped me to better understand what the management at my workplace were trying to implement.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lean Six Sigma QuickStart Guide?

I enjoyed the .pdf download that accompanies the audio book. It allowed quick reference material so I didn't have the need to take notes.

Although this is not a subject I am extremely interested in, the guide is well written in layman's terms that it makes it very easy to understand upon first listening.

LSS is magic. A must understand for future bus.

a trickier read initially, but once you can wrap your head around it it really comes to life. Lean Six sigma can change business and this particular book makes you want to put it to use immediately.

A introduction to Lean Six Sigma

Where does Lean Six Sigma QuickStart Guide rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the first Lean Six Sigma audiobook that I've ever listened to, but as far as non-fiction business process books go, it was pleasant. This was a little drier and than others I have listened. But it wasn't too bad.

What other book might you compare Lean Six Sigma QuickStart Guide to and why?

As I said earlier, it's hard for me to provide a comparative context, but what I can say is that it was easy to understand and I was able to follow for the most part. Some portions were a little jargon-filled, but I feel this is less a defect and more a result of the subject matter itself. Thankfully the jargon was explained in detail.

What does Lucy Vest bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lucy Vest has a very soothing voice, that isn't boring or obnoxiously enthusiastic. Her enunciation is excellent and her rate of speech is easy to follow without being too fast. It felt like she was doing a presentation well.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't know if moved is the right word, but I really appreciated it when there were charts to follow along with in the PDF. It was a shame that there weren't charts for all the concepts, as they were very helpful for me to internalize the concepts.

Any additional comments?

This was a very helpful introduction to Lean Six Sigma. I have been very curious about Six Sigma in general, but I've been very intimidated whenever I tried studying it on the the internet. This was an accessible book, even if it was the barest essentials and dry in spots. But, it did do a great job introducing me to the topic, and I even had a coherent conversation with someone who works on LEAN the night I finished listening, so I guess it served it's function. It's not something that I would listen to over an over again, but it gave me a foundation on what else to research and study.

This book is an excellent starter guide for anyone who is new to lean six sigma. It's an excellent business management model, and this book will walk you through the aspects of managing your organization. I highly recommend it to any small business owner!

Have you listened to any of Lucy Vest’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't, but I really enjoyed her accent! I think it was British? It was really pleasant to listen to.
