Publisher's Summary

When something is forbidden, it becomes maddeningly tempting. Judas Barron, for example. Wicked blue blood and heir to a severely twisted cutthroat society.

Everyone knew who he was and what crew he ran with - a clandestine group of filthy rich kids surrounded by ominous secrets. Secrets that were rumored to be dark, dirty, and stained with blood.

It was never my intention to get tangled up with them, but Judas and I had a secret, too - one he was determined to make sure I took with me to my grave, which meant keeping me by his side.

Now forced to be part of a savage coterie, I start to see his world through a new pair of eyes. It isn’t long before temptation becomes something dangerous and wild, breeding the sickest kind of infatuation.

And those secrets Judas keeps? They’re about to tear my life apart.

Warning: Before beginning this series, please be aware that while LK is mild in terms of darkness and contains bully elements, the following books in this series will be on a drastically different level, containing graphic violence, total power control, explicit sexual content, and varying triggers. LK is a precursor that sets the stage for the rest of the series. 18+ only.

Cutthroat Society Reign & Ruin

Lawless Kingdom: A Dark Romance (Reign & Ruin, Book 1) just gives you a taste to what's to come. This dark bully high school romance leaves you with myriad of questions. A trickle of dark erotica to lay the first stone. A mystery surrounding Rhiannon's past. Supporting characters lay the infrastructure for whats to come creating excitement. The key is the multiplicity of secrets stained with blood, murder, lies and deceit.

Narratiors Lacy Laurel, Connor Crais dual performance was smooth and intoxicating. Connor Crais deep baritone fit Judas character perfectly. I loved the performance.

A Dark High School Bully Romance

This was my first Natalie Bennett's book, and definitely won't be my last. This is the first book in the Reign & Ruin Series, a High School Bully Romance. This is a great introduction to the series. Judas and Rhiannon's story is dark, and captivating. Judas is the perfect antihero, possessive, and dark. Rhiannon is innocent, but strong, and smart. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and now I am looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, Savage Gods. Lacy Laurel and Connor Crais did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voices together.

Wow

A bully romance with a Natalie Bennett twist? Sign me up immediately!

I loved this couples backstory, and their ride to a relationship. Well, I use relationship loosely here, but they definitely took quite a journey to get to it, and it most certainly had some bumps in it that others don’t.
Judas is building an empire in a sense, on a mission to become, not merely a King, but a God amongst his peers. And what he needs is a Goddess molded perfectly to his brand of mayhem.
Rhiannon doesn’t want to be the queen, but she can’t seem to stay away either, not by choice anyways. She definitely has conflicting feelings about what Jude brings out in her.

Absolute perfection in these pages.
I need the next book after that ending.

What an intro!

This is my first Natalie Bennett book, and I can't wait for the next in the series. Dark, bully and devious, this high school romance is like no other. Rhiannon is surprised by her parents her senior year to attend Pesdallia Prep, the school her best friend attends. Excited, she has no idea what she is in store for. This school has deep mafia ties, and Judas Barron runs the children of the families. Young, yet knowledgeable of the life, these kids are dark and dangerous. They have been numbed to destruction lives they destroy. Judas has his eye on Rhiannon, and the pull between them is strong. Will she go with him? Does she have a choice? Bennett has given us a good foundation of the story. We get Rhiannon's naivete, and need to be accepted. Judas is definitely disturbed and controlling. We can hear the inherent secrets that are not being told, adding to the building suspense. I am looking forward to what is next!

Lacy Laurel and Connor Crais are the narrators and give us all the feels. Laurel is so good as Rhiannon, giving us her personality with a little fearfulness, yet a curiosity that can't be stopped. This is my first Connor Crais listen, and I love his voice! He is amazing as Judas adding that dangerous tone. He makes me want to know him better. This team is a good casting for the series!

4 STARS

Darkish story set in high school. The anti hero is very possessive and that was a plus for me. Since the story is so short there is a ton of questions. We only got the bare minimum so that was a negative. Maybe I’m just greedy? Interested in where the story is going. I liked the heroine because she did not immediately roll over and do what everyone wanted. Beware it’s a cliffy and the next book is not out on audio or print.

Narration was good and I had no problem following along.
