Great non fiction Vietnam

Nothing. It was an overall excellent story. Narrator was perfect for the story. I will listen again for sure

Details a plenty!

The author writes a detailed account of his spent in combat during the Vietnam War. It is often repetitive. He restates the same facts repeatedly as if the reader hasn’t read previous chapters. I was surprised his editor didn’t cut back on the repetitive writing. The audiobook was performed well with excellent diction. Overall it is a very good book providing a detailed account of combat and life during the Vietnam War. These men were tough. The carried heavy loads in brutal conditions; not for the weak. And they were being shot and mortared while doing it. Few could handle the duty.

Horror and hilarity at the same time

The horror and loss of intense combat combined with the hilarity of the associated characters. Author pulled off fearful descriptions of jungle fighting combined with shenanigans and bent over laughter.

Perhaps most insightful Vietnam memoir

This is perhaps the most insightful first person narrative of Vietnam. This is unique because Command Sergeant Major Arthurs was close with both the everyday soldier in their fighting hole as well as with the higher ranking commanding officers. This is told with brutal honesty and is a must read for all those seeking to learn about Vietnam from those who were there. This book is significantly bolstered by being perfectly voiced by an outstanding voice actor David Colacci - I'll look for more from him!

AMAZING BOOK!! One of the best I’ve read/listened to, on the war!

This is a MUST READ! It’s VERY detailed, and VERY entertaining! It also brought a tear to my eyes, on a couple of occasions.
