Story
In 1869, Gloriana Womack's family is much smaller since smallpox killed her mother and two of her siblings. She lives in a modest cottage in Duluth, Minnesota, with her father and young brother, and she has dedicated her life to holding her tiny, fractured family together - especially as her father is frequently gone on long fishing trips. Their livelihood may come from the waters of Lake Superior, but storms on the lake can be dangerous, even to those who know it well. Luke Carson has come to Duluth to help shepherd the arrival of the railroad to the city's port.

Good book; poor performance
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I always enjoy Tracie Peterson. However, I won't buy another book read by this lady. Her swallowing and smacking irritated me but when I heard her stomach rumble, that was it! Too bad for a good book.
How could the performance have been better?
Another reader!
Did Land of My Heart inspire you to do anything?
Wish I could have gotten through it!

Great Blessing, this book
If you could sum up Land of My Heart in three words, what would they be?
Discovery, acceptance, practice
What did you like best about this story?
From the first to last words in this book, Christ Jesus and His redemption is displayed in novel which sets out perfectly a real life scenario. I want to listen to books that are Bible studies in themselves always for sure sticking to good theology, which this one does.
Which scene was your favorite?
At the end of the book, last chapter....Diane hitting home what Cole's heartache really was all about.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Diane's uncle sharing his former life story.
Any additional comments?
This book and I'm sure the series (I am going to start book 2) are a must listen.

What disappointed you about Land of My Heart?
The narration by Ruth Ann Phimister made the storytelling annoying.

enjoyable read
I very much enjoyed this book. not only do I love the time period 1800's, alittle western, wagon trains, and montana (im from montana). the book makes you wonder where Diana got her inner strength to keep moving on after the loss of family, its her faith. I think her friends on the wagon train help her find it to.
This book has a suttle way of making you think about your relationship with God, and the strength he gives you.
As the story comes to an end it really makes one think about your own faith, is it truly strong enough to get you through your own struggles. I can relate to Cole and Bram about your own struggles with God. it makes you be thankful our lord is patient.
Enjoy, it truly is a good western.

Painful narration
Loved this book. But the narrator was distracting. I did purchase the second book because I was interested in what happens to the characters. I'm willing to put up with the narration just to hear the story. But she is bad. I know others have the same problem with her. Did the author approve this narrator?

awesome book, poor narration
This is one of the best books I have listened to in months. However, the narration is not good. Her voice is not really pleasant, but I could live with that except: the last few chapters are difficult to listen to. She has times that it sounds like her lips must be dry and she stops to lick them and there are silent spots where all you hear is narrator's breathing.

Story
Raised by guardians in Philadelphia, the Brinkman sisters have suddenly been bequeathed more than the truth about their late, estranged father - they've also inherited the Five Sisters Ranch, the dynasty he'd built for them in Eden, Colorado. It's theirs on one condition: to claim it, they must live on it for six months - a wilderness worlds away from the comforts of the city. For Belle Brinkman, her father's last wish could fulfill a dream she never knew she had.
