The stars are fading, and darkness threatens everything…

The spicy epic fantasy romance sensation that has gripped readers on Booktok!

The stars are fading

Whisked away to the Fire Court, Scarlett Monrhoe finds herself captured by the man who killed her mother: the Prince of Fire. He may have plans for her, but she has plans of her own. She just hasn't decided how thoroughly she wants to break him yet. If only he didn't tempt her with every breath, every touch, every kiss…

The shadows are calling

The Fae Queen has plans of her own. She's determined to get to Scarlett in any way she can, and that includes using a mortal prince who followed the lost Fae princess across the border. Crown Prince Callan is desperate to get Scarlett back. The question is, what is he willing to sacrifice for the Wraith he loves?

The darkness threatens everything

But for every day that Lord Tyndell and Mikale get closer to finding Scarlett, those she left behind are put in more danger. Every day, more secrets are revealed. Truth has been buried in history that has long-since been rewritten. And to unearth the truth, they will be forced to cross other borders and seek answers from kingdoms far more terrifying…

Nothing much happens in this book and it’s too long. The plot barely moves forward as we spend most of the time with the characters struggling with their self created problems due to their stubbornness, refusal to ask for help or their utter lack of communication skills.
Miscommunication seems to be the only way the author knows how to create conflict and mystery. No one, absolutely no one in this story knows how to communicate. This was also a big issue in book one, and I gave it a pass thinking it was going to improve as characters evolved. But no. If anything it gets worse. Everyone talks in riddles or super vaguely, like they’re allergic to straight answers. Everyone knows they have to tell someone something important but leave it for another time or get interrupted. It’s so frustrating and boring.
Also, so many characters act so oblivious to what’s going on around them, even with blatant clues or stuff happening in their faces.
Sorin and Scarlett are annoying in this book. Their mood swings and their withholding information from one another goes on for too long and with nothing else interesting happening.
I’ve read all about people claiming this books plagiarize Sarah J. Mass (ACOTAR and Throne Of Glass) and though I don’t think it’s actual plagiarism, they do borrow heavily. Too many things are very, very similar. But there’s enough that’s different, so I hope the story evolves into it’s own thing. Because yes, in spite of my frustration with this book, I’ll continue with the next one, I’m actually intrigued to know what happens.
*spoilers ahead*
Some characters are sorely missing in this book like Cassius and Nuri, but worse there’s absolutely no villain or antagonistic character.

Long filler book.
