Loved it! I would recommend reading The Bane Chronicles and the Shadowhunter Academy series first as they have clues that give context to some parts. However it is still a great story.

If you liked 'The Mortal Instruments'...

...then you'll love this story extension. Very well read by Morena Baccarin. A fun addictive book that had me up late at night unable to turn it off.

Perfect beginning

This series is about to take off! Been waiting for a new Cassandra Claire and this one fed my shadowhunter craving big time!

Great story, mediocre storytelling

Simon and Schuster needs to get it together with the casting of these audiobooks. Fantastic series but they seem to gravitate toward "it-girl" celebrities that could use some practice in the art of storytelling.

Forbidden Loves and Lies

Makes you want to rip your ears out, seriously what is it with constant screwed up love drama. Over all the idea is good but this author can not take their head out of the love drama struggle, which greatly over shadows the spirit and the possibilities for such a creative world. Why waste all the time writing a series just to wreck it with your soap opera drama fest. Grow up, you don't usually find great love during a war, mostly because everyone knows it's a freaking war.

struggled to finish but glad I did! maybe I'm more in love with Claire and Jace so everything else pales in comparison!

what a great beginning to a next series! I can't wait to read the next book, but I wonder how long that will be? I read this to my students the problem is I want to see what happens next.... like tomorrow! If book two had been on Audible I would have already bought it.

The best first book in a series ever (kinda)

I fell in love with this story. Alot of tears was shed from this. Since you kinda have to read the entire series before this it's not a new series but it is refreshing not to have another stranger to the Shadowhunter world. I can't wait for Lord of Shadows rn. I did read this in 2 days so I in theory atleast can read the entire series again if I want until the new release. Still undecided on this, since I like to keep some form of sanity that I lost during city of heavenly fire and the tales from Shadowhunter academy and this ofc.
