Publisher's summary

After turning a film student's directorial debut into a hit movie, New York mobster and movie fanatic Vinnie Callabrese takes off for the bright lights of Hollywood, where he begins a new life as Michael Vincent, producer. A natural-born wheeler-dealer, he lands not only a major studio deal but also a gorgeous actress girlfriend.

It isn't long before Michael Vincent is one of the most successful producers in town, given his knack for bringing in films under budget - not too difficult when you're willing to lie, seduce, intimidate, and even kill to get what you want. But some of the people from his past have long memories and far reaches, and now it's Michael's turn to watch his back. Because even in the land of make-believe, certain enemies - and their bullets - are very real.

Not My Favorite Stuart Woods, But Familiar

Not very believable, but this book is entertaining as long as you don’t mind reading fluff. Tony Roberts performs the narration well; the consistent use of his voice for many of Stuart Woods’ books make reading this book and the Stone Barrington series like donning a warm, comfortable shoe.

Not bad

Book was decent but not the greatest. The end of the book is a little out of the blue kind of over the top.

Get Shorty Meets Godfather - Annoyingly

I liked the first three quarters then it got goofy. Stuart Woods is a terrific writer but he couldn't end this one. It's an average good mafia TV show. Still, if you're looking for a plane-time-killer. This will do.

WHAT a ride!

This was my first novel by Woods and although the ending was a disappointment, it was the only inevitable conclusion to the train wreck that is Vinnie/Michael.

Hollywood

You know how you think you know something only to find out that you don’t over and over again? Well that was how I felt while listening to this book. I was engrossed hanging on every word Tony Roberts said. I kinda sorta thought I knew what was going to happen and then something else happened. Then ending could have gone one of two ways, in my opinion. I didn’t particularly like or expect the ending, but I didn’t dislike it either. Get the book and you’ll see what I’m talking about. This was a very good book, again, in my opinion.

an early Stuart woods novel about a mobster.

this is an older novel and both as good as his later stories. there is a lot of violence and the main character stops at nothing to get his way. a somewhat predictable story where the main character makes a lot of bad choices.

Good story of a young man gone bad.

Gripping and suspenseful drama set in the movie industry. Has some violence in it. Recommended reading for those who like thrillers.
