Good Storyline

What I liked was the interesting story itself. Craig did a good job of differentiating voices so it was pleasant listening. But it lacked the peripherals that give stories images. I never really saw the characters or their surroundings. A lack of world building. Plenty of action that would have been anxious but without a good mental visual, it read as informational.
There was a lot of sex and because of a bond, it happens quickly. I understand that. Unfortunately the scenes weren’t emotionally moving.
All in all it’s an easy listen with a good narrator.

I Applaud the effort 👏🏻

Great voice, fair story, poorly read

I really struggled listening to the audio. The story itself had too many words that said little to the point that it felt repetitive, especially at the beginning of the story. Craig Bowles has a beautiful, deep voice that I could listen to forever, but in the reading of this story, there was very little inflection to distinguish different voices, emotions or anything else. It was read straight, as if he was reading the story to himself, not to others. As a result, I found it really difficult to keep up with the story and gave up after chapter 4. I have tried listening several different times over the past few weeks and just could not do it.

You dont you that yall are solmatu

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The author, Clarissa Lake, forewarned me that this is going to be a spicy book. I am okay with a little hot and dirty type of book. What I was not expecting was the book to be half filled with sex. Most of it happened in the first half of the book. I was not expecting that. Most of the time I was think, 'I hope there is a plot to this story.'

I loved the main characters, Reanne and Kragyn. Kragyn was a big softy and I really wanted to know more about him and his people. Yes, in the beginning of the story we get a bit of a background on what happened with the Farseeken people but that is all. I wanted to go more in depth within the people. For someone like me who is new to Ms. Lake I wanted to know more about this world that they live in and what is going on with the alliance that is supposed to be in place.

When a plot did come up I was happy. I got to learn more about what happened to the Farseek people but still not as in depth as I wanted. We got to learn about Kragyn and what his background was. I enjoyed all the friends that he and Reanne made and that they all go a happy ending. I wanted to meet Kragyn's family. The fact that it was just glossed over was a bit sad. I wanted them to be reunited and it did not happen. Even knowing that Reanne 's parents are safe was very nice but again I wanted them ti be together.

I am looking forward to continuing this series. Craig Bowen did a good job narrating this story. I was committed to what he was telling me.

My only real issue with this was the term, solmatu. I get it they are soulmates but the fact that it was repeated over 50 times made me want to rip my hair out. Every time Kragyn and Reanne spoke them mentioned being solmatu and I was like yes please move on.

Soulmates!

Kragyn, the first book in the Farseek Warrior Series, is a light alien sci-fi romance, with steamy scenes. The writing is good but fast-paced. The plot is great, but due to the pace, the characters' and their backgrounds could have been better developed. Craig Bowles did a good job with the narration, I'm satisfied with his performance. If you're looking for a quick and light sci-fi romance, Kragyn is a good choice. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for an unbiased review.

Soulmates on a prison planet

A great escapist love story. The blurb accurately sets the scene. Kragyn, a lonely solitary Farseek warrior, sees his solmatu, when she steps off the shuttle bringing more prisoners. Reanne accepts his offer of protection on this lawless prison planet. There is an instant shock of mutual attraction when they touch. Within the day Kragyn has claimed Reanne as his soul mate, or solmatu. Kragyn takes leave from the fighting pit for a few days as he cements his bond with Leanne. The solmatu bond demands many, many sexual encounters, which are explicitly described. Kragyn lives in an old mining cave complex some distance the village. They plan a future together on this harsh desert planet, never expecting rescue.

The narration is excellent and Craig Bowles has a good range of voices. All the explicit sexual content can be quite distracting if you are trying to drive and listen. If you are not a fan of insta lust transmuting to love, perhaps this is not the book for you. Otherwise highly recommended as light entertainment. Enjoy.

Stranded-

Abducted by aliens, sold as a slave, killed her owner, then dropped on a prison planet.
Kragyn is there. She’s his soul mate. She’s really accepting of this. Like instalove no growing pains accepting of it. There’s never a point where either are annoyed or anything. It’s like “oh, we are gonna live happily ever after” which is interesting because I’m really used to a little arguing but I think the prison planet with very little resources probably helps with that.
Overall, interesting. Not gonna be a “listen over and over” kind of book. Just the one time probably. I will get the others in the series.

Prison isn't all bad....

Kragyn's world was attacked and he was made a slave. But he is a Farseek Warrior and not a slave and has ended up on the prison planet. Reanne was abducted from earth and sold into slavery. But instead of being tortured and killed, she killed her captor. She has ended up on the prison planet. The fates have brought them together and they are mates. Now they'll have to survive on the prison planet as they attempt to build a new life. But nothing is ever easy.

I enjoyed the story although I took off a point because I felt that the story resolved a bit too quickly. Still I would recommend the book. There were two characters who were well matched and had an instant connection that only grew. Together they could face anything.

One thing I have a problem with listening to audio, is sometimes the names are confusing to me. I'm a new listener and it's getting better but still, I can't just flip back if I'm not sure where we are in the story anymore. That being said, this was a good speaker and was easy to understand. The only problem I had is that he did have an english accent but Reanne came from Maryland so I think it should have been an american accent when speaking her part. Still recommended. Looking forward to more in this series.
