not sure if I got the right book here

I truly respected Kobe and was saddened by his passing, but the version I purchased was poorly narrated or written. The descriptions confusing as the wrong words describing the games, stats and awards throughout the first hour I was only able to listen to were not used correctly. I am going to a book store to see it matches. I bought this based on the previous reviews and wanting to learn more about the Mamba Mentality, but did not learn anything about it. I am either confused or very disappointed with this audio version.

I DESERVE MY MONEY BACK!!!

The narrator is insufferable and makes it difficult for sports fans to listen. I would not recommend!

Should be a comedy book

The author of this book must not speak English and the narrator barely does and has never watched an NBA game. This audio book is so ridiculous that it made me laugh out loud several times before I stopped it to write this review and then delete it. The only way you could possibly make it through this thing is if you're one of those people that just has to stare at the side of the road when there's a traffic accident. Unfortunately I cannot give negative stars. Audible should be ashamed to have this thing on their app. Thank God I tried it with a free credit on a free trial. If I had paid for this pile of dog shit I would be livid.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOOD REVIEWS!

This HAS to be a psychological experiment by Audible, right? Something to test the threshold of loyal listeners? There’s no way the narrator is human. Definitely sounds like an AI app transcribing the text.

Who knew it was Steven Curry and not Stephen Curry this whole time?!? Apparently the narrator did, multiple times. Also, spoiler alert, Kobe won the dunk contest. Know how I know….the story repeats it at least 10x in the first 1:30:00 of the audio book!

DO NOT listen to this book on a dark highway at night…for yours and other drivers’ safety. To borrow a former NBA player’s term - ‘this book is Trrble.’

This is a list of dates only!!!

I was looking to learn about what drive Kobe to be the best and how was the way he approach life but this book is only a list of dates and scores, if you like stats go for it but if you like content find a different book

A boring read of a great player

Gregg Thompson wrote a statistic driven report with no insight into Kobe himself. The narrator loses all credibility mis pronounce several players names and basketball terms repeatedly. Go elsewhere for a story on Kobe.

Disgrace to Kobe’s Legacy

The good reviews are fraudulent, I promise you. Look how many of them come from Aberdeen, United Kingdom. :-/

I’ve never left a poor review. My love for Kobe is what made me buy this audio, keep going when I was disgusted by the narration, then ultimately stop listening and write this review.

It’s a JOKE that this made it onto the platform. I actually started to wonder if it was an experiment of some kind. The writer and narrator clearly do not know the game of basketball. They call games “matches”, they use “aide” or “support” instead of the statistic “assist”, leading me to think this was a digital transcription of some kind that interchanged those words. It was jaw droppingly awful.

In one sentence, “mailbox” was just randomly thrown in.

Another sentence said Kobe led a comeback in the 4th trimester against the Celtics. Seriously, wtf?!

Listening to half of this book actually made me angry.

Repeating info

Like reading Kobe Bryant’s wiki page over and over. Fast forwarded most of the book.

clunky

Whilst Kobe was one of the greatest, poorly annunciated lists of stats and dates do not make for an easy listen. Quite a hard listen.

poorly written

I love Kobe but this book is a joke. Sounds like it was written by a kid or translated from another language. The grammar is so poor and disjointed and there is so much repetition that I couldn't even finish it. Kobe deserves much better.
