Publisher's summary

Lucian: I am a Dragon Prince of the House of Smoke...and I am dying. Five hundred years is truly enough for a man like me. A monster. Yet a 10,000-year treaty will die with me, if I don't spawn a dragonling to take my place. My two brothers are no use in this task. It falls to me, the eldest by a hair's breadth, and yet, I cannot face the horror of another sealing. Another death. Another woman's blood on my hands.

Arabella: I was saved from death in a dark Seattle alley by an impossibly beautiful man who swooped in on golden wings. Now he's taken me to his lair, opened my eyes to a world of immortals I didn't know existed, and given me an impossible task - find him a mate. Then, and only then, will he set me free. He needs her more than he wants; she wants him more than she should. The fate of both the mortal and immortal worlds depends on not just repairing their hearts, but finding a love that's true....

WHEN THE GOING GETS GOOD, IT ENDS W/ A CLIFFHANGER

Why Oh, Why! Just when it was getting good, it ends on a cliffhanger!!! Arghhhh! Had I known this audio ended with a cliffhanger, I would have skipped it!

I love a good dragon shifter story, and Kiss of a Dragon's plot does start with a good foundation, and has the potential to deliver a story full of angst, suspense, action and steamy romance; however, the whole story will be told over three books. In my opinion, if an author is going to write a story about two characters over a series, the author has to hook the reader right from the beginning with a captivating plot, great characters and plot twists that will entice the reader to want to come back for more. While the story had an interesting plot, overall it left me with a lukewarm feeling. I'm actually on the fence about continuing the story, and it really depends on how fast the other two books are released in audio.

Some Spoilers:
This story reminded me of Coreene Callahan's Dragonfury series, which I loved, and is one of the main reasons why I wanted to listen to this story. Lucian, a 500 year old dragon shifter must fulfill an age old treaty to keep the peace by mating and producing an heir. When he meets Arabella, he senses she is strong enough to withstand the mating process. In order to form a mating bond, the union must be formed from true love. After assisting Arabella with killing a demon, he captures her under the rouse of needing her assistance to find a suitable mate for him; however, his true motives are to seduce Arabella so she falls in love with him. The idea of mating, and being around Arabella is dredging up old hurtful memories he rather leave in the past. To ensue the past doesn't repeat itself, he refuses to fall in love with Arabella. After all, the mating bond only needs one true love to form the bond.

There was an instant connection between the characters, and the authors does a good job developing their relationship. However, the chemistry and romance between them is on the milder side, and just when things are really starting to heat up, the story ends.

This PNR just showcases how well Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell can narrate just about anything. Their performance really helped make this story more appealing.

The one thing I loved about this story, it's a KU/whispersync deal which helped soften the blow from the cliffhanger. Rating 3.5 stars.

Good book, bad narrator

Maxine Mitchell totally killer the book for me. Her voice for the main character was nauseating

Disappointed

This book started off really great. It reminds a of the Dragon Fury books by Collen Callahan. It also reminded me a bit of the books by Christine Feehan, The dark series. The book has a great plot and the characters are great. I was looking forward to a new series about Dragons and i was disappointed that the book has a major cliff hanger. Being that i do more listening to audio book rather than read i feel let down. Now i either have to read them or hope they come out in audio book form. I wish at least the first three about Lucien would have been in audio book. I did not know it had a big cliff hanger or i would have waited . Other than that the story line is really great.

Female narrator once again ruined the book for me

It’s not the first time the same narrator ruined a book for me. She is sooooo dramatic! She read sad, happy , and dangerous moments with the same crying voice like she is in pain. 😫 Because she is so dramatic, it ruins the happy and romantic moments because she makes it sound like she is in pain. It gave me anxiety

Couldn't Finish

The story itself seems alright.
The female narrator made me want to scratch out my eyeballs and scream. That constant inflection of hers at the end of every sentence was just annoying

Dragons, Faeries & Demons OH MY’

Short but good 1st of trilogy. I agree w:others that the 3 books in trilogy are only 5 or so hours long & should’ve packaged as (1) download. It’s as tho the way this ended was ONE part of ONE book & chopped up to make three. I wouldn’t quite call end a “cliffhanger” it def is abrupt, leaving you wondering. The VERY good news is the series is part of romance package so it’s more than worth it for me!!
The paranormal world building in this story is okay however not super detailed yet, and maybe it will be in the following books.
The dragons in this first book aren’t total alphas ...yet, but time will tell.
The female mc is actually decent! I’ve gotten so tired of females in romance novels being immature or stupid I’d almost forgotten how a well written one is almost rare! So far she doesn’t act out foolishly to “prove her strength or individualism” only to put others at risk, lol. She’s no pushover but their connection is rather fast, but doesn’t suspend belief when calculating the supernatural aspects of bonding, mating etc. the sex is not off the charts but yummy nonetheless. I’m hoping in the following 2 books there will be even more action with the evil characters (black dragons, Fae, demons etc)
The narration is great! I’d actually heard this exact pair before, when they teamed up to do a Motorcycle romance series (Devils Dust) by M.N. Forgy, and they were amazing in that listen and so was the series!!!
One of my fav recommendations for paranormal romance is Karen Marie Moning and her Fae Fever series which is a great example of Fae/Hot Romance/World Building and sexy as hell alpha men and Fae..as well as others (cue my #1 ultimate alpha badass Jericho Barrons lol). Her highland books are good too!
Please leave recommends on your reviews as I’m ALWAYS looking for listens! I download over 20 books a month! Love the genres of
New adult romance
Any bad boy romance
Paranormal romance
Fantasy romance
Epic fantasy (Melissa McPhail 💗)

Just missed the mark a bit..

I enjoyed this book and kept wanting to really like it, but..... somehow it was just not developed enough. The characters were ok, but not brilliant, the world building was pretty good, but still lacked something and the storyline seemed to be a bit too shallow.
I liked that there was a deep underlying pain/emotion attached to the books ‘angst’, however it just took so long to come out that I was a bit over it, and then it was all rapped up and resolved by the next page. I was sort of let down by this build up and quick resolution.

The other annoying thing about this was that there was not really a slow release of information throughout the book, which meant that i just kept thinking that the ‘hero’ was a jerk. He admitted he was lying, manipulating and using the heroine, but we were not told why until the end - meaning I just thought she was an idiot for staying with someone who literally had kidnapped her and was intending her harm. He was actually willing for the heroine to die it turns out, so he could solve the problems he was facing, this sort of is not making him the kind generous person that the author kept telling us, I know it was for a good reason, but still......).
The narration was excellent

couldn't finish the story

Sadly, I couldn't finish the story. The storyline it's self seemed interesting...but I just couldn't get past the woman narrators voice inflection is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I couldn't get past the second chapter... definitely one that I wish I could get my money back on.

The story was lost on me

It might have been a good yarn. I just couldn’t get past the female narrator. She sounded straight valley. Even when she was doing male characters. Wtf?!?! So the book may have been good but I couldn’t listen to the valley chick no more... might have made it halfway... this one just read!!

Insanely Brilliant and Exqusitely Stunning!

Kiss of a Dragon is an insanely brilliant and exquisitely stunning romance that will leave you breathless and on the edge of your seat. Nothing is as wonderful as a highly satisfying journey of two well developed characters who see their forever in the other while working through real issues in a meticulously crafted world that has no end to its wonder and awe. This was such a joy to read and savor!

I fell in love with all of the characters. They are each such a mystery wrapped in a beautiful package of intrigue and tied up with a bow of sensuality. I never tire of different takes on the paranormal myths. In fact, I love the variety. It is a welcome break of fresh air to a sometime stale world of fiction.

The narrators did a fabulous job in speaking life and heart into each beautiful character involved in this story. They make my world tilt on its axis as I suffered and cheered along with the brilliant characters along their treacherous yet glorious path. I can't to see what happens next!!
