Story
For 10 years, I’ve lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas’s golden castle. But one night changed everything. Now I’m here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom’s army, and I’m not sure if I’m going to make it out of this in one piece. They’re marching to battle, and I’m the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war. At the heart of my fear, my worry, there’s him — Commander Rip. Known for his brutality on the battlefield, his viciousness is unsurpassed. But I know the truth about what he is.

Amazing!
What a wonderfully crafted story that sweeps you in right from the start and keeps you listening till the very last word. The world is so detailed in its description that it seems as though you are truly there, and the banter between Wrath and Emilia is hilariou. The development of their relationship is believable, with just the right amount of tension and attraction -- perfectly paced. I can't wait for the sequel!

A decent mystery, but not great romance.
Unexpectedly rich and detailed and lush in its descriptions. The world building is above par. Characters interesting. The hunt for the killer complex but becomes convoluted and unbelievable once you mix in the sub par and totally predictable romance. What would have been an amazing book becomes cringeworthy YA drivel. Unless the main love interest dies in the next book I'm not buying.
The performance was good but if you start out as excited and shouty and fast, where do you have to go when the chase scene starts?

I'm Questioning Why I Liked This Book
The Kingdom of the Wicked is one of those books where you find numerous plot holes, loose ends, obvious villains, and a female lead who makes a lot of eye-brow-raising choices. However, despite all this, you cannot stop listening because the writing style is captivating, the narrator is engaging, and the world concept holds enough mystery that you need answers. I honestly questioned my personal taste in books once I finished it, but loved it nonetheless.

Fantasy novel or cookbook?
If I had $1 for everytime the word "cornicello" was said... Narrator was constantly at this high pitched / shakey tone. No power or interest in any of the characters. couldn't decide if I was listening to a Fantasy or a cookbook? overused cooking terms without any direct link. Such a slow paced novel, totally a miss for me.

Brilliant!
Kerri is an incredible writer. She takes her time introducing new characters, giving hints as to who they are and what role they may play without spending too much time on them because let’s be honest.. everyone is holding out for scenes between our heroine and her love interest… I was never bored. The narration is amazing - the accents especially. An absolute favourite.

Where is the devil
Firstly I found parts of this book hard to get into and relate, but I have to say I wanted to keep going, the good parts and the narrator kept me going and I would like to continue onto the next.
I think it’s when the author repeats the story over and over the it becomes taxing.
The narrator did a really good job and her Italian was excellent.
Both narrator Ana author are new to me.

Terrible plot
I gave up at the point when Emilia took a month after her twin’s murder to REMEMBER that her sister (with whom they shared a room) had a diary for all the things, a diary she herself had sneaked peaks at previously. Plus the performance was also annoying, weird intonation and emphasis.
